Hello all... hope I am posting in the right place...
I am looking to swap out the ttb d50 in my 97 f250. I have my eye on an 89 kingpin dana 60 with a 3.73 ratio.
I would like to swap out the rear as well as I will need to change ratios anyway and my current one is rusted to hell.
This is where my question comes. In searching for a rear, I came across a superduty rear end in 3.73 for a decent price. I am pretty sure the rear end sd swap isn't too bad and I would like the 4 wheel disc brakes, but I would prefer not to have to run different rims front and back as the SD are a metric pattern I believe.

What are your guy's thoughts on this?
Can I convert the rear superduty hubs to run obs wheels?
Am I better off getting an older rear end and a disc brake kit?
Thanks.

For the front you will need a reverse shackle kit, new shocks, f350 sway bar and brackets, f350 trac bar and brackets, and f350 driveshaft.

DO NOT PUT A DISK BRAKE KIT ON AN OBS AXLE!!! What us wrong with your drums? Aftermarket disk brake kits don't put enough force to properly stop the truck when loaded. Good working drums do a better job in my opinion because their brake swept area is much larger.

As far as I know you cannot make a SD rear axle run 8x6.5.

Your best bet is ditch the king pin and get a set of axles from a super duty.

Hope this helps.

If your going to spend all that money on a superduty rear and and king pin front. Your almost have enough to convert to a 05+ front and rear setup. Which rides better and has a sharper turning radius. Rolling frames usually run $1000-$2500. Then you just have to make a custom track bar mount or buy one from ct performance.

As far as the rear disk brakes. You just need the correct master cylinder and proportioning valve. Easy.

I've been running 35" tires on my superduty for 110k and the truck has 215k miles. All on stock unit bearings.

I did the rear axle years ago and had new billet hubs machined to take the old bolt pattern, we planned on selling a kit but the machinist flaked on us. The swap wasn't bad. Had to mess with the parking brake cable and re-clocked the shock mounts, i think i had to change out the u joint and mount for the drive shaft but I dont remember exactly.
