Question -- is there someone who rebuilds manual ZF-6, like Dieselsite does the Legendary?

My ZF-6, rebuilt 2 years ago, is losing the 2nd gear synco.

But what are the best parts available? How do you know? I've had so many "best parts" fail because of the Chinese third shift.

@Jax - might be worth talking to the folks at Epro gears.. They mostly do Eaton-Fuller transmissions, but they might be able to steer you to a reputable place for the ZF stuff. Another option (EPro uses their stuff as well) - I know that PAI industries manufactures a bunch of drive train stuff (www.paiindustries.com), but I don't think they sell direct to consumer. You could probably call them and see if they make parts for the ZF and who the distributor is.

In other news . . . It was my drain valve on the back of the fuel bowl that was leaking.

My valley is once again dry.

Did a nice trip to San Antonio for the Eclipse. Really, really bad mileage - 6 mpg pulling the travel trailer.

Stiff head wind. Towed nicely, no crosswind issues, but that head wind killed me. High EGTS on hills.

Not happy that I didn't have more power.

Hmm.. Darn, you should have come to Mt Pleasant Tx... You'd have been in good(?) company.

Dang, were you on the line?

We were parking right on the center Line of Totality, in Kerrville, Texas. Exit 501.

Not quite in the center, but close enough. It was pretty cool. Stopped at a bunch of places on the way down just in case the weather didn't behave.

It seems like the beast is developing high EGTs more often.
Almost 30K on the engine.

Is there something that might cause that?

Air filter is what’s causing mine right now. Do any of your boost numbers look funky? Is there any junk infront of your intercooler?

I was working during the eclipse. Fortunately I was in the totality line in Castroville. Unfortunately it was cloudy.

Shower thought on the transmission: call your clutch people, or Southbend or Valair and see what they say.

Might call these people and see what you think. They claim to do beefier transmissions
