My truck runs empty most of the time, once or twice a year I haul a 9.5 foot camper and a 20 foot boat, so the 3:55's are good for me. The 95 f250 has 4:10's and a 5sp, The fuel milage on that is better, but don't get to cruise on the highway as fast or as quiet....

My 250 has 3.55's and I love them. I run 2000 rpm at 75 mph, and get 18 city 21 highway. I tow almost every weekend from my buddys Cummins :ford: to the stock trailer with cattle or hogs. If I was you I wouldn't be afraid of the 3.55's they work just as well.

i have 3.55s and had 315s. it was too tall of gearing for sure. went back down to 285s and its pretty good but if i towed more often i would swap in the set of 4.10s i have. 3.55s do make for good mileage on long road trips with no load.

Are you talking about with the 315's or the 285's?

anybody have any 3.55 gears for a ttb dana 50 to sell or trade?
Not at the moment, but I'm doing a D60 swap this summer and when that's done The D50 with 3.55's will be on the market.

no they are 215 75 R16 this is the size that came on this truck from ford in 96 it is not a 4X4 it is a 2wd dually. It has 4:10s in it now and i'm changing it to 3:55s I'm hoping to have really good gearing for the hills while running 70 to 75 mph towing.

I'd look into a set of 235/85-16r to get you something taller & more stock size. Also (for whatever it's worth) we re-geared a friends 97 CCLB 2wd dually from 4.10 to 3.55 because all he does is drive 70mph on the highway unloaded. He has been driving it about a year now & reports no change in mpg, just has more top end speed & that's about it. That being said if I was running 70-75 all the time I will always take 3.55s over 4.10s so it isn't spinning to the moon.

i have 4.10s i hardly ever pull but i had about 15k behide i and it never droped below 45 i got 285 75 16 on it it gets about 12mpg towing and 18 with nothing do they make kits that are 3.73?at 70mph its at 2400 or 2500rpms

i just don't like how long it takes to shift with 3:55s and trying to maintain 45 mph with traffic sucks! it up shifts and down shifts all the time it seems ether 40 or 50 not 45! which sucks for me because all the roads around hear are 45 mph. just my opinion...

Well bringing this back....ive got a 5sp 1996 with 4:10's and 265-75-16. Pull great yes druve 65mph get 18mpg but getting passed and not driving tge speed limit is annoying and loud if i do drive 70. Ill do 355s asap but $$$ goes other places first.

that is what mine had on it I now I have 235-85-16 still don't have the gears to go much over 65 really thinking of going with 355 and if I need to I will just take it out of high gear I tow around 20,000 lbs with it all the time

3.55s e4od 325/65s…4.10s pulled great but highway trips left me wanting earplugs. Put in 3.55s and love it turbo lights faster. It was like adding another gear. Pulled over the scales at 25k the other night with 12 of it on the truck and it did fine downshifted for decent hills otherwise leave it in OD
