My truck is a 2003 F-350 powerstroke 6.0, and while in mid-hard acceleration, my truck starts to lose power and sounds like turbo bark to me.. and i have to let off the throttle in order to get the problem/noise to stop. does anyone have any idea what this might be??? im concerned I may be ruining something... and im afraid to drive it. Anyone???!! :ford:

Can you provide any more info about mods you have done to the truck? I first glance, i would check some basic items .. Fuel Pressure dropping or fluxuating would be my first guess, when was the last time you changed fuel filters? If you provide additional details about truck that will help in diag. Also does the truck run fine when you drive it easy, Light Throttle normal cruising?

Another item is check is if the VGT (turbo vanes) are sticking or the actuator is acting up causing them the vanes to open and close erratically under med to hard acceleration.

How many miles are on the truck.. without taking the turbo off the truck the best way would prob be get yourself AE or equivilant (or maybe just take it to the dealer and have them diagnos it) With a software tool like AE you would be able to run many tests to help you pinpont the issues. Do you get any type of check engine light ?

Auto Enginuity it is diag software that allows you to test various part of the engine. it also reads codes etc. Based on the mileage and learning curve (no insult intended) maybe a trip to dealer to diag is best choice. You can always come back here with their results and post them here for next steps.
