Hey does anyone have a write up on how to put a lock up switch on a obs?

take a switch (single throw single pole) and run one end to a ground then take the wire from the other side of the switch and tap into a wire comming from the trans harness right under your drivers seat that is purple with a yellow stripe on it. use a clip on type wire tap. just dont forget to unlock it before comming to a stop, trust me i felt like a jackass. but it greatly improves transmission temp and economy around town. have fun!

Wouldn't a lock up switch be pretty tough on a stock trans, or is it ok if used gently?

Please explain how this effective works and what benefits I will get. And the disadvantages, thanks I see lower Trans temps.

Would I use this while normal driving?
Around town?
On the freeway?
Pulling my 14' trailer?
Pulling my boat?
Pulling my 36' travel trailer?

Is the harness you are tapping into under the cab or inside it?

i will be using this thread soon:D

Awesome, glad I found out which wire it is. Now I need to figure out a switch that I can so I have it so it's locked, stock signal, and unlocked.

i bought an illuminated switch... that should work:D

single throw single throw switch its either locked up or its same as stock

I need mine so I can keep it unlocked too. For desert high speed stuff, it is what I was recommended to keep the trans alive on another forum.

Would it be wise to tow with the torque converter locked at highway speeds in over drive (65-75 mph)?

less heat build up from not slipping the torque converter, longer life of converter if used properly and makes general driving easier. better manners is what it did for me. and yes od is alaways locked by the stock drive train module. just try it and if you dont like it then your out mabye $4 and you can just pull it out.

I wonder...... Could I use an old school floor mounted dimmer switch to this? That would be pretty easy to cycle instead of having to look for a toggle switch. Never have to take your eyes off the road.........

If I were to run a dimmer swith hooked up instead of a toggle, I would get an alert light to let you know it's still on. Might not be good to pull up to a stop sign with it engaged...

Got a floor dimmer switch at NAPA to day I will try to get it installed this weekend.
