I was thinking about stacks but I've haerd you loose bottom end power, is this true?? Or is there any affect with stacks power wise???

#2 ·
Who told you that you'll loose bottom end? They must be smoking crack! :poke:
Some people say the truck runs slightly cooler with a stack(s) because heat rises. If anything else you'll at least look more powerful but you won't loose any power.

No.........Hes wrong...........DO stacks they are wicked

chances are yous still going to run the 4'' DP and thats the only thing that will make a difference, past that it doesnt matter really its all the same, unless you put a muffler in there.... but who would do that :D

He drives a Dodge
Well there's the problem right there! :hehe:
Never seen any turbo lag just due to stacks.
My homemade T pipe has 3.5" for the up pipe & has some back pressure but I don't have a turbo so my engine runs more like a gasser in some ways. But if you have ever seen Dockboy's setup his is just a square T pipe & he was pushing some power.

If you welded a 5" up pipe in there instead of 3.5" I know it would work alittle better too.

Still hard to beat Grand Rocks kit for ease of use & construction & free flow.

So CAT hows the turbo lag on those twins ????? :poke:

:hehe:
And your wrong............your not the slowest on PSN........How could an IDI me slower than a PSD without a motor

Not that hard to do, call it an afternoon into the night project. I lined em up right with the seats so they aren't so close together to bother you all the time in your rear view mirror but not all the way out to the sides either. Like you said something alittle diffrent.

By the way....yes you will need at least a foot of flex pipe. Other wise it will put a great deal of stress on things if you get her flexing offroad. On a Powerstroke without a muffler they aren't that loud, if you want loud I'll let you ride in my truck. Now that's loud! :D

#15 ·
I don't think you would notice if you all ready had a dual exhaust setup.I don't know that is what I seen.Stacks sure are loud as all hell though.

I am in about 15 minutes going to go hit the big rig shops around town and pick up a 8 inch stack with 5 inch back to my 4 inch.Get rid of that stupid hillbilly flex pipe 6 inch chrome tip BS.

Yes one stack IS gay............

You put me up for awhile there in Vancouver and get me a season lift ticket for Whistler and maybe I can work something out.

#29 ·

If you want loud just get a Cummins. My neighbor wakes me up in the mornings. Swear he does it on purpose. lol
I had a 95 12v Cumapart with not much more than a down pipe. I can truthfully say that as loud as it was are my IDI is still louder. Mines about on par or even more with a 24v Cummins. :D

#34 ·
CAT.........Ive farted louder then that :poke:

jk...........Love the plume
Hows she under load

#35 ·
Dont worry CAT I have been told that (The person trying to make fun of me) could fart more PSI than my trucks makes. Of course that was coming from a kid who drives a Mercury Cougar with a Honda Civic cannon for an exhaust. I got that last laugh in that one.

Dieselboy how is it under load? HA you have no idea. I guess you have never seen the pictures of the back of his truck full of leaves...lol

Anyways back on topic. Stacks are the only way to go I think.

#36 ·
I dont like the look of a single stack either but ive also heard that the single stack guys are the ones making the big power

#37 ·
Probably because it is coming out the hood............

HEY...stack are COOL!

Just got my Aussie's installed a week or so ago. MUCH better looking than the single mitre-cut I had on there before.

Love 'em...check 'em out...

Here's a couple o' pics of the system underneath. I used some tubing bends from the original s/s system plus some new tubing and elbows.

The hanger is just mocked-up in the second pic. Gotta finish that one this weekend.

Although it's a little hard to tell in these pic's, they are barely visible from the side unless you get down and look up under the cab.

Yes, they work (last pic)...
