The title says it all but I got a new head unit for my 97 f350 and when I go to play the radio there is no sound. I checked all fuses and replaced the blown ones. The head unit has power going to it so I have no Idea what the hell could have happened to it. I was thinking when it shorted out it surged power to the speakers and just completely destroyed them. Thanks

Do pop test on each speaker to make sure they are good. Never seen all the speakers blow and or go out at once it's almost impossible. Double check the wiring at the back of the deck sound like a wire or something is in the wrong place is my thought. There is no fuse between the deck and wires to speakers unless you have an after market amp powering them. Is this the case?

No all the power is coming from the head unit I was playing the radio on the stock head unit then I turned the truck off yanked the head unit out and put the new one in, went to play music then nothing. And what is a pop test?

Sounds like maybe the ground or something in the wiring behind the deck came loose when you yanked it out. That would be the only reason I can think of why it's not working on either head unit. Double check the fuses in the actual head unit as well again. I just had this issue with my boat today actually. Also possibly try disconnecting the batteries and reconnecting them if none of this works.

Dumb dart to throw but if it's a better HU it might have an option to shut off the amp to the speaker level outs and run everything thru the RCA outputs. All my Alpines have the feature and it's purpose is to reduce heat.

If you're just running a HU straight to speakers then the internal amp is fine but once you start building a system you run everything thru RCAs, thus making the internal amp quite useless. I'd check the manual to see if there's a simple "internal amp control" on/off control.

Good luck!

i would definatly run a jumper speaker wire from my deck to the speaker. that will eliminate the wiring being bad. if nothing still, run a speaker wire from an external stereo to your speaker once. otherwise, i got nothing

What kind of electrical connections are we talking about between Ford's conductors and the aftermarket head unit's conductors? Something like a Scoche or Metra molded and no tape needed adapter harness or a bunch of bubblegum?

reminds me, i bought a set of metra adapters (rather, Chinese b.s. disguised as metra) and the pins on both of them pushed out of the little plug & failed to contact. threw me for a loop, just glad i tested before fully reinstalling
