Who's using a Back drag blade? Bought or made? Any pictures of what you have?

I don't use one know but I have used a few.. They work okay.. I have a 9ft HD Fisher right now and it has enough weight to it so the backdrag is not needed..

I plowed for a couple of years with one of these on a Western.. It worked okay but it did make the blade jump a bit.. Forgot to mention, if you put the plow in NON float mode it will backdrag much better..

ya i got one. i gotta western 8ft poly pro. just put a new leading edge on, and decided to put a back drag on to.

when you pull up to a garage and pull it back it works better than with out. you can pull farther before it starts to smear under the plow. the trade off i found is when your plowing forward.

there are some areas, in some parking lots i have, where its up and down. when the plow goes over the "top" of the little rise in the lot, both front and back drag edges come off the ground, riding on the height "shoes". totally normal.

when it comes back down, it seems like the snow packs between the two edges, and has to ride for a couple feet before it all smears out, to get back down to plowing. i had it where it came down on a small piece of ice, and had to back up and make that push again, as the piece of ice didnt smear out, it simply held the plow up all the way to the end. another time a piece of ice wedged in and did not dislodge itself. i had to get out and dislodge it. i was pissed, it was -15 that morning.

if all i did was drive ways, i would buy one again, as most drive ways are flat. but my case, where some parking lots are not flat, and it has already been held up on me twice, i would not buy one again.

my leading edge is about 7/16 - 1/2 in thick, i made one that is 3/4. i feel that a tad bit of extra weight would be more worth while than a back drag. though i have not put it on yet, as i wanna wear out these new ones first. the single 3/4 will weigh more than the single stock one, but less than the stock one with a back drag. my back drag is about 5/16 thick.

the pic atsah posted is what they are. they are sandwiched between the plow and the leading edge, using the same bolts. in essence they are a leading edge with a 35-45* bend in it, to make it curve backwards as shown.

When i bought my old F350 it had a 7'6'' western and a backdrag blade off the back. Im not sure where the guy got it, but it worked fairly decent. In all honesty though, if I were putting another plow truck together I wouldnt bother with one. I can do everything I need with just a normal blade on the front, and to me its just not worth the extra cost
