considering buying a S468 from Jake here in the future. wondering if anyone has experience with the charger and running Stage 2 injectors? truck is a work truck mainly that does alot of towing and daily driving as well. didn't know if it would be to laggy on the low end with that little amount of fuel for that size of charger?

Better off with a small hybrid injector than wasting your time with a stage 2.
Anyway,it should spool very nice even with 2s.

currently am running 2s with my S366. got a good deal on them and didn't wanna pass them up. can still tear them out and sell them for a profit when necessary.
i'm afraid of having not enough fuel for a charger of that size and not having much low end towing

You saw my response over on the army.

It's not gonna be bad. It will be a little more laggy than stock. It's a BIG turbo. Once it's lit, I could barely get my Stage II's over 1200 degrees at WOT with my race tune.

High gears and big tires will kill it. I know I could burn my truck up in OD pulling hills. It had the power, but the RPM's were so low that my boost was about 10 psi.

Not good when passing a Duramax! :ford:

it just sounds like alot of charger for the 2s to spool without alot of lag or slow response when climbing a hill.
i might just hold off on the turbo right now. finish getting the studs/springs/rods and internal mods put them on the shelf. then get the 250s and decide on which nozzle size would be better for a 468 so i can tow with it. and then add it all in at the same time

I didn't have an ounce of problems towing in Drive. I also talk about passes. These are somewhat steep. Not gentle slopes by any means. You know, the ones where the big rigs are doing 30 mph with the flashers on.

I have a 468 but haven't installed it yet.
I'll try to remember to post up my results with 238/100's when I finally get around to installing it.
If I'm not happy, I plan to go with 300/200's.:evil

When you gonna put that thing on? It's been a while since I seen a post saying you got it!
Sorry for the derail, op.

I am running the S468 with 238/100 FF injectors and am really liking the set up. 1st, i tried the .90 exhaust housing and the low end and towing was great ,but EBP @ WOT was through the roof, changed back to the 1.10 housing, lost a little on the bottom but picked it back up on top and eased off the EBP

Thanks Joeyd.
if i would go with the turbo, i'd probably go with the same housing you did because of the EBP. with your combo, does it seem to light pretty quickly? did you do internal mods?

#12 ·
No, no internal mods, it did come with the race cover, I am running 4.56 gears with 37" tires so i am geared a little low. the turbo seems to like it..It lites just under 1800rpms. I have not had the chance to tow with the 1.10 yet and probally won't til spring but with the .90 it towed great, I dont expect much change with the 1.10

Mine looks like this:

my bad. i didn't state my question right. i'd be scared to run that charger without the studs/springs,shims/ and rods. it can push alot of psi through the turbo and i'd feel alot safer when i'm hooked to a sled or to a 20K load if i had some insurance in the block holding it all together

#20 ·
OBS: i already have a T4 kit through Irate. i'm running a s366 charger. so i wouldn't be chanigng to much besides warm air pipe, turbo, intake boot, oil return/supply line.

will be doing studs with any injector upgrade and turbo upgrade

#22 ·
Yes, you need top end mods to handle the boost of the S468.

I made over 40psi on just stage 2 sticks. Matt at Full Force popped a head gasket after a couple passes with it installed on a cured head gasket with no studs.

Studs and springs will make it last.

Rods.... well, yes, forged rods would be nice. Real nice..........:doh:LOL

with my current setup, i can hit 45 in my race tune pretty easily. my gaskets have 280K miles of cureing in them so they should be fine.
studs/springs,shims/ pushrods are my next purchase from Jake. along with his fuel kit.
going to stay the 366 route instead of the 468. just going to add a gate and a billet wheel to keep her spinning.

looking for someoen with 238s that would be willing to trade for an older set of 250s that need gone through. so i can run 238/200s with it

Kris has been preaching how well the 366 runs with 250/80s. he's towed alot of heavy loads with that setup on his rig and he swears by it. i've considered that combo alot. i'll have to talk more in depth with him about it and try to weigh the options

#27 ·
Kris did have some work done to the top end, and i'm sure the cam did play a role in the bottom end holding together. Charles does his own tuneing if i remember correctly, so he could make any size injector safe

#29 ·
ofcourse i'm worried about windowing the block. i have another motor at home thats torn down to the block in the early stages of a complete rebuild. But i'd rather not lose my bottom end because i chose to large of injector and my motor couldn't handle it.

#31 ·
i'm worried about both occuring. if i can pick the right injector/nozzle size for my charger and still be able to tow efficiently with it then im happy.
What i'm afraid of is having to much fuel and building up to much heat and having my bottom end walk away in my curretn motor before i can finish the other one and swap everytying over

i have nothing but faith in Bean's tuneing. thats why i'm going to have them do mine when itas all said and done. i will probably call them sometime soon and see what they recommend. with my luck i'd get an injector, have them tune my chip. then put it on and id be seeing oil
