Anyone else run in Nike shoes?
I've tried Lunar Glide's...not the right shoe for me and the sole started peeling off on one after one 5 mile run.
I run in Vomero 5's and Air Max 2010's....the Air Max's have a plastic toe cap that drives me nuts after a while so I always go back to my Vomero's...to the point that the sole is just about gone on them.

They have a new Vomero 6 that looks promising and the Air Max 2011's got rid of the plastic around the toe but I'm still not sure about long term use on those air filled soles.

Anyone have any feedback on any of the new versions?

Ive tried all kinds of shoes. The asics were good for a few months. New balance just dont fit my feet right. Right now im running in a pair of addidas that I just picked up to just wear around and they turned out to be great for running. I do like the looks of the new rebboks.

I've been a competition runner for about 6 years and I've personally never tried any of those shoes, but I will say I have good luck with either Mizuno shoes or Asics. I usually get Mizuno because you can get them fit to your feet if you get them from the right place. but thats just my opinion. good luck!

Typically shoes brands like Nike and Adidas are not good for a lot of miles. If you want a good shoe I would go to a local shoe store that will analyze you stride with a shoe on if that is a possibility. It all depends on how you pronate when you land/step off. Some of the better running shoes are Asics, Brooks, Mizuno, and Saucony. I personally wear Asics GT2160 and I have worn this same series of shoe for about 5 years. I can typically get around 400-500 miles out of them which is decent but I'm a taller guy so I need to change shoes more often. Hope this helps!

I hate my Aisics! After a mile my feet are killing me. Threw on my old worn out Pumas and no pain for three miles. I will be buying Pumas today. Got my Marine Corps PFT in two weeks :(

They are the top rated running shoe by runner's magazine. I ran an average of 4 miles a day mixed between backroads and the t-mill and they have always held up. I've always bought the higher end of the brand and loved them.

I'm in the same boat Rich, no matter what I'm buying a new pair of shoes every six months. Nikes just don't seem to hold up to my 6'3" 235 lb big ass pounding on them. They are the most comfortable in the begining, but just don't last. I have had a pair of asics since early last summer that are just now ready to be replaced though. After reading some of these posts thinking about looking into some being made for me. Anyone have more info on this?

I have had the worst experience with Nikes. Nikes tend to come apart on me after a month or so. I buy Nikes for casual wear...not to run in. I have been averaging 8 mile runs and 10 mile runs on weekends. Asics are the only shoe I have found that hold up to the abuse. I'm flat footed so my shoes wear a little differently though. My second choice would be Saucony or New Balance.

:whs: Brooks is what I run in too. You can't go wrong with the GTS series stands for Go To Shoe. Or if you're a bigger runner, the Glycerins are a soft ride. The other Brooks shoes give a firmer, but constant long lasting ride.

I used to wear Nike all the time, but after a month or two my feet would hurt so bad I couldn't run anymore. The last pair I bought I switched to New Balance. I've had them about 4 months and love them so far. And a big plus is they are also made in the USA

I wear asics for running. Nikes didnt seem to last long and new balances werent comfortable, but got casual i always wear new balances. Im a little different though, i wear crocs to work out legs because it puts my feet to the ground better imo.

Most of the people i know use Asics, Saucony, mizuno, or Saucony.

Yea it's a style of running. I think it's called minimalist running or something like that. It's the idea that running with limited support for your feet strengthen your lower body. Thus increasing your overall running strength, agility, speed, ect.

I remember the first time I saw them being worn by a dude at school. I was like WTF lol.

I am totally hard on running shoes. At 6'4" and 220 I just have never been able to find a shoe that I dont blow out within a few weeks. The shoe that I have been using for years is the Brooks Beast. Amazing shoe but I blow them out in no time. So over the last 2 years I have started to look around at different shoes.

My back and knees tell me when a shoe is done when they ache. Tried a few Nike's... No good. Asics.. Bad. New Balance? Blown out in 14 days. The story goes on and on. Until.....

My wife comes home with the runners version of the Sketcher SHapre ups, the SRR. The first pair lasted me over 6 months! and not to mention they are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. They dont look all lame like the standard version because they are not all that tall. But let me tell you they are the best show I have ever ran in and I will be buying them as long as they are offered.

My first pair cost about $150 but they are down to about half that and it looks like Zappos has the best price on them... Go try a pair on and see. I did add a Super Feet inserts but the stock ones are OK....

Ive never posted on psn before due to my complete lack of diesel knowledge.....

But I am rather experienced in the running department. Ive been a navy SEAL for the last 8 years and counting. You can imagine the abusive mileage we can inflict on some shoes. My favorite shoe manufacturer by far is Salomon. They are light, comfortable, and extremely rugged. Its very common for us to go for a run around base during the day AND go to work at night in the same pair of shoes.

The little toe shoes are cool for lifting or short runs but you're not going to want to go too far in those things. They also help strengthen stabilizer muscles up the leg that you didn't know existed. You should be pretty soar after the first couple runs.

We use them both for whats its worth

Cheers
