Ride Height, ORU Shackle Reversal or F350 Springs + Add-a-leaf?

Going to be doing the D60 swap in a few weeks, but am wondering what to do for front springs. Truck is a 97 F250 SCLB. Some guys are saying to go with an ORU Shackle Reversal kit with the F250 springs. Others are saying to do F350 springs with an add-a-leaf. Will be doing 35" BFG A/T tires with a 17" wheel setup. I like the height of my friend's truck which is an F350 with just an add-a-leaf up front, but the ride quality could be better. Also, the truck must fit in my garage, and am wondering about the overall height of the ORU kit with F250 srpings versus the F350/add-a-leaf combo. His F350 fits in my garage, but its a tight fit up top. I am looking for informative posts from people with real-world experience here, not just opinions on what you think looks good. Thanks!

If you use the f250 or 350 springs from an obs it will still ride like crap. use SD "v" code springs for a much better ride

1 Buy a SKY manufacturing RSK, it is about 200 cheaper than ORU
2 a RSK with stock 350 springs is all you need to fit 35s
3 If you want a better ride do the RSK and "V"code superduty springs
4 if you use the F250 springs it will ride worse than your buddys F350 w add-a-leafs

Here is my 97 F350 w a RSK, stock F350 OBS springs and 315/75/16(35")on 16x10 wheels

3" shackle reversal kit, SD springs front and rear, OBS F350 stock anti sway bars front and rear. I opted to use air bags on the rear for carry capacity rather than over spring pack overloads. Handles and rides wickedly....also should speak with OBSWIZ, CaryT and get special valved Bilsteins shocks too....

IIRC 42" from ground to center of fender arch (measured vertically though center of hub) on the front and about 41" on the rear on sig truck below..

I have EVERYTHING needed to do this mod..FYI I developed this 8-9 years ago and have helped countless OBS owners get the best possible ride quality from their trucks.

PM me if I can help.

Sky rsk kit is the best. Real good thick shackles and easy to put in. I didnt do the SD springs but to me it was a big difference in the ride. I have an F350 and all i did was the rsk in the front and it sits pretty much level. I also an running 305s but you could easly run 315s no problem.

So I'm gonna have to keep my 4" blocks eh to keep it 4".....

I was under the impression the rears would be tall enough with B-Code springs. I don't wanna be half ass clearing 35's, I need the articulation out here and I don't like the look.

V and B codes 3" rs kit and 3.5" blocks clear 35" and is level!

You don't have to keep your blocks we can set you up with Deaver rear mini spring packs..ride great and then just use a F250 block. Or use X codes with a 5" Icon rear and no blocks...

Ok, so i know my bumper is not straight, I fixed it, and yes I notched the bumper around the spring hangers. I will be mounting a Reunel bumper on the front with a 12,000 winch, they are not to far from me, and they will have to make custom mounts to work around the RSK. As far as the springs, yes I know they are backwards, there were a lot of colorful words being yelled in the shop when i realized i had done it . I call the expert, Cary, and he said I would be OK. I ordered new shackles and will be doing the flip here shortly, I am just enjoying the smooth ride in my truck too much.

Wow you guys don't get it! :doh:If the springs are 4" inches longer, they are 4" longer. You have to move the hanger forward to make them fit.

I had this conversation with a friend the other day and he couldn't figure out how I could put longer springs in without moving the axle or the rear hanger:doh:

After what I found to be a way to long conversation, I had to draw him a picture:poke: he finally got it.

I guess some people have a hard time with our OBS springs having a "center pin" thats not in the center of the spring ;)
