I received my PHP Hydra Chip and I have some questions and comments. I purchased it from Aligator Performance and was quite happy with their customer service for ordering the chip. They did not have the USB extension cables but I was able to buy the extension cable through them in one order and it is supposed to be drop shipped from PHP (though I haven’t received any confirmation yet)
I thought the Hydra was supposed to come with a USB stick for the software and it came with a CD disk, so I had to dig out my old laptop with a dvd drive that I was glad I still had.
There were no written instructions whatsoever in the box, so I kinda stumbled upon what to do with Youtube and digging around the supplied CD disk
It would be nice to have at least a one page written “Start Here…” set of instructions.
I kind of stumbled onto inserting my computer’s NMC1 PCM code to get the hex code VRAA6N3
After visiting YouTube University, I was able to program my chip and I loaded up about seven tunes from the VRAA6N3 list – It would be nice if after I install my hex code if it only showed the tunes available for that particular hex code instead of scrolling all the way down through the various sets of codes.
There are 15 spots and I think the default position (0?) is stock? Is that correct?
And is the number 17 position (which is unprogramable) the “No Start” tune?
I cannot get my list of tunes to print out no matter what I hit, the print button, Ctl-P etc. And yes the printer works.
I still have an Edge Attitude w/Juice setup installed on the truck, which doesn’t SEEM to be doing anything. Can I just leave it hooked up, set to Zero and use the old monochromatic gauges? (Boost, EGR etc) I do also have a set of pillar gauges that has Boost and EGTs in the truck. Our should I yank it all the way out?
I was going to wait for a couple of weeks until a buddy gets his new chassis dyno setup, but now I am itching to install my new little green toy!!
