I got this from a friend that is the parts manager at a ford dealership: "The new part-no. for our trucks is F4TZ.12K073.C it is $ down from the $$$$$$$ old price. This is the one I recommend for 95-97 trucks. I know the new style for the super duty will work but they have never seemed to last."

This was the first I had seen of a new part number for the OBS CPS. There must be a logic in there somewhere on why the OBS trucks use a different part number. I just ordered one so I can post a pic if anyone is interested.

The depth appears to be the same however the end with the actual sensor in it is smaller in diameter by about 3/16 of an inch. The older one has a gold color bracket and the new one is silver.

From what I have read on the forums (so take it for what it's worth) the only difference between 99 and up CPS's and 94 to 97's are the materal and/or coating on the contacts.

They were supposedly backward compatable, meaning that the new CPS can be used in the OBS trucks. It is not reccomended to use an OBS CPS in a SD due to corrosion that can begin due to incompatability of the material in the connector.

Now that Ford has issued a new part number for a cheper CPS for the OBS trucks I am somewhat questioning the information that I just posted. However I have one of the 15 dollar SD CPS's in my truck for about 4K miles and no problems.
