hey guys
I have a crank no start 2006 f250
after exhausting everything i can think of i've
finally got around to airtesting. and here's what i have

applied shop air to icp location.
i hear and feel air coming out of both the oil fil tube and the ccv vent
more so on the passenger side but still hear and feel from both.

applied voltage to the ipr

no change in the air sound or feel on either point (note there are new stand pipes, dummy plugs and injector orings on each side, the sound is a gurgling sound not hissing...see below)

also i hear gurgling from the oil filter or somewhere close
sound is exactly the same with or without the ipr activated

my scanguage values were
koeo, ipr 14.5, icp 0
koec ipr 75, ICP ZERO UNTIL LPOP REGISTERS ON DUMMY GUAGE
koec ipr 75, (DUMMY GAUGE REGISTERING LPOP PRESSURE) ipc climbs to 300
cranked for at least 2 hours total time

Do i have a bad IPR or bad HPOP

Any thoughts considering the airtest results or honestly lack of results
there wasnt any change in sound with or without the IPR activated.
Im getting very frustrated chasing rabbits around.

Thanks
Robert

I have been chasing the same rabbits, it seems. I'm working on an 03-- 6 oh.The stand pipes are different than yours , but results the same. Same gurgling sound. Nothing left, as far as I can tell, but the HPOP. I have the cover loose but forgot to take the 2 bolts on the heat shield loose. It got dark & Ihad enough laying over the eng. Thats where my problem is. Yours will be easier than mine, I'm told you can change it wiyhout removing intake. It just takes a little engenuity. Good luck.---Bob

mine should be a little easier. i already did an egr cooler delete so its not so bad getting to everything once the turbo is out
i just dont want to spend $600 on a pump when it could be the $200 IPR

anyone have a clue one way or the other
for a little more info
truck has 230k
has had hpop oring/stc fixed at 90k
had to replace ipr at 160k (there were holes in the screen, i never replaced the pump at this point)
new injector x3 at 180k
now 5 new injectors, oil cooler, egr cooler delete
i was running before the work but very very bad. didnt have any scan values from before the work other than what injectors were bad, just didnt think to look at hpo system. live and learn... again

anyway
any thoughts.. IPR, HPOP both or just shoot it?

thanks again,
robert

Since your air test didnt change tones when applying voltage to the IPR, I would assume your IPR is done for. You could pull it out and see if the screen has sh** on it or not. But I would think it is the IPR.

Good luck!

When you apply power to the IPR do you hear it "click"?

#7 ·
When I put power to them they "click" and the air stops flowing, I'd look at the IRP.

its not the ipr.
found the air leak
it was coming out the shaft seal on the back of the pump and through the inlet even when the ipr was activated.
new pump is on the way.

anyone ever heard of this type of failure????
i havnt been able to find a single post with this type of failure

i assume its pretty uncommon

nothing is uncommon with this engine, a guy i work with was working on these when they first came out and when it had the actual stc fitting, when when those things let go it would bend the branch tube so far out of place you would think it had been bent like that already.

I have a 2003 ford f550 just put new oil pump and new stand pipe and egr delete and oil cooler got it back together and it still would not start.Hooked air up to the icp and energized the Ipr and hear gurgling coming out oil filter housing. is this normal? Could i have a bad o-ring or something else i should be looking for? Please help
