Can you have the intensifier piston machined down to achieve more cc's like the single shots? I just did another set of 160cc injectors on a OBS and was asked this question. Why does everyone go to the single shots and what needs changed on the split shot injectors to make them singles?:poke:

these guy's and im sure others have kits to turn your splits to singles..scrole to the bottom and it will some what tell you whats needed....splits takes big oil to run good..that why i went singles...

The P&B's are different and make them single shots. Yes, machining the intensifier piston will give you more cc's, but your injectors will require more high pressure oil to function properly. This is info I have learned from Jim Rose.

1) You cannot use an AD Piston for anything other than an AD injector. You cannot use it with any single shot P&B including the 530's. You can only do very minor machining to the AD Piston to get a small increase in fuel from them, usually not worth the trouble, that's why a lot of guys convert to Singles. The split shot timing is very touchy and you generally do not want to mess with the Piston length.
2) You can use AB or AC Pistons without machining with a Single Shot P&B, including the 530's.
3) When you convert a AD into an AA you must replace the AD PIston, too. See 1) above...

Not to mention that the bigger split shot injector rewards you with piss-poor functionality after all your hard work to make it exist.

Splits are what you run when you want stock injectors. When you want some more fuel, throw that junk in the trashcan.

They waste your most precious resource.... oil. They literally piss it away. You lose the entire width of the plunger groove's worth of oil and fuel on every single stroke. What a waste.

And get sub-standard injection control for the trouble.

Not to mention they sound pus$y and get worse milage.

I would think the decision would be a no-brainer.

ok let me get this straight-
1)AB injector can be converter to single shot by using an AA plunger and barrel

#2) AD can be converted by using AA piston plunger and barrel??
where would improvment come from??

What gives injectors larger fuel flow?? nozzles??

Wow, gotta love it when someone comes along and resurects an old thread, people jump all over it and never notice its years old, LOL. THink where we were back in 08, I think things have changed a little since then.

Thats ok, Bruce is not one of my best fans on here, LOL. And I,m happy with the set up I have, though I think a 38 r would be better.
