i know, i know, not another 'wats a biggest tire i can fit?' thread lol

but seriously, i couldn't find a single post where somebody asked what the largest tire can fit on a completely stock 2wd 2006 XLT 6.0 f250 with coil springs & the stock 17"rims (7" wide iirc).

truck currently has the stock 265/70/17s. not looking to install a lift or levelling kit, not looking to trim either. just wondering what size to shop for for this winter. Thanks!

Probably 33x12.50 at the largest, I would say, without trimming or a leveling kit. The best to know for sure is to measure first though. To measure this distance, turn the tire inward and outward on bothsides and measure the smallest distance from the tire to the fender well.

Say for instance, If it is a 1/2" then you can increase the tire size you currently have by inch, before it hits the fender well. But keep in mind when the tire is turned to that critical point, the suspension also needs enough room to compress so it will not hit the body of the truck. I would leave at least an 1 1/2" between the tire and the fender well to compensate for suspension travel.

that's a damn fine plan! thanks for the idea!
is it 20006 already ? how time flies

LOL
dammit! lol i saw that about 30 seconds too late lol
I ran 275/65/20 michelins on 2011 20's on my 2000 rclb 2wd truck, tires were 34.5" tall, and like 10" wide. Fit like a glove, zero rubbing, and filled up the wheelwells extremely nice. Whatever that size would be in a 17" will fit. Most honest, serious answer you will get, without some hillbilly jackwagon talking about his 33" midgrapplers or some bs. 34" tall, and about 10" wide. Find whatever metric bs that works out to be, and buy 4 of em!
lol thanks for the tire size! for the record, i was expecting more jackwagon posts haha!

grabbed a set of off-brand 285/70/17 directional mud grips from a local guy. price and timing was just about right. measure right around 33" tall & fit well!

plus i saved enough money to have a head start on my next set or highway tires! got my eye on a set made in my native state of oklahoma!

:nopics:

Come on Rob, you're slipping.

And in the spirit of jack wagon posts....
Just put whatever size you want on it. If you find you need clearance, just head to a parking lot with good speed bumps. Progressively hit said speed bump at all angles, with steering wheel at random points. Increase speed until clearance is no longer an issue! Problem solved!

I found a killer deal on a set of 2014 f250 take offs with like new Michelin tires....They are 18" with 275/70r18.... they were damn near 3" taller than the stock 17's with 265/70r17..... filled out the wheel wells nicely.

LoL it's been my name since I was 15 years old on AOL dial up in 1996!

I was going for a simple, stock-ish, updated look.... I'm real happy with those wheels.
