Okay, after some research, I have found that the injection pump on the 5200 is Stanadyne DB2335-5319, the 5300 is Stanadyne DB2335-5320, and the 5400 is Stanadyne DB2335-5321.

The injectors on the 5200 and 5300 are both Stanadyne 28480, while the 5400 has Stanadyne 28484.

I'm assuming the 5400 injectors would have a different opening pressure than the others?

What about the pumps? Would these be the same pumps with different adjustments, or would they have different internal parts?

Well seings how im sitting in a fine john deere dealer and I am also a parts counter guy here we go..the injection nozzle for the 5400 is a larger flow nozzle and requires a larger pop off pressure. Depending on your engine serial number I should be able to come up with a JD part number of a 5400 pump and injectors for your engine which would bump up the power to what you are looking for. The internals of the engine are the same and you are correct in saying the power levels are achieved through the furl system as well as air. Did your tractor have the air to air? if it does not then that would keep you from reaching the goals of the newer engines. hope i helped!

 

You don't have any specs on nozzle size or pop off pressure, do you?

As it turns out, I was wrong about the pump. My tractor has the earlier Lucas DPA2-3239F201W pump.
I know the 5300 and 5400 were offered with the same pump model, just different end numbers 210W and 220W. That would just be settings, wouldn't it? I think I should be able to turn the pump up and get the same fueling rate as the 5300 or 5400 pump, shouldn't I?

My tractor is naturally aspirated, so until I get a turbo and possibly an I/C, I would just shoot for the 56hp of the 5300...then later go for the higher ratings.

BTW, I read today that the 3029 turbo has larger wristpins...any idea if that is correct?

I know this is an old post, but I was looking for the same info. I have a JD 5105 and was looking to increase from 47.5 to 50-55 pto hp. What pump and injectors did you use to achieve your 60 hp?
