IDM issues?

I am working on a 7.3/t444e in a 99 IH 4700. I know this is a little different than the Ford 7.3 but I can't find much info from the other trucker forums. Heres the issue. The truck will not start unless I unplug cylinder 6 injector plug. When I unplug cylinder 6 the engine starts right up. When I plug it in while running, the engine slowly dies and will not restart. I ohm'd the valve cover harness, all checked out good. I ohm'd the injector harness to the ECM with the ECM harness unplugged. All wires good. Split open the harness a few inches back and found no damage. I am not getting a ground on cylinder 6 injector plug, but the other 3 plugs on this side have a ground with key ON. I suspect IDM has gone bad. The IDM is inside the ECM on this truck. Does this sound like a legit diagnosis? I do not want to replace the ECM if I do not have to. These are the hardest diags! Thanks for any help

You said the #6 injector wasn't grounding like the rest, and if you verified that there is no open in the uvch, that must mean injector 6 solenoid is bad. At least if I am understanding what you said correctly.

I use a power probe. It hooks to the battery and I can poke a wire and it will show Ground or Voltage. I can unplug pigtails and poke the wires to see what they're doing. I can also supply Ground or Voltage since I am hooked to the battery POS and NEG. It is a very handy tool, I always recommend people get one if they dont have one. I did not ohm the solenoid. I did ohm the UVCH and Injector harness from ECM. What is the proper amound of resistance for a solenoid?

New/used ECM from Ebay fixed the problem.

I have to do timing cover gasket next. I think I should replace the oil pan gasket while I have the timing cover off. Question is, do I need to lift the engine up to get the oil pan off/on? This is the IH RWD chassis. By just looking it's gonna be close with the trans behind it and the front axle under the front.

I believe you have to take the oil pan off anyways to take the front cover off, since the pickup tube is attached to it. I imagine you will have to lift the engine or just jack the whole frame up/unbolt the shocks to get the clearance.
