ICP Cleaning?

So a couple questions - thought is I might have a bad ICP.

Condition: Dual HPOP w/ dual IPR

Symptoms: Truck stumbles and dies at low RPMs. Runs fine whenever the gas is depressed. Coming to a stop the truck will sometimes get a rough idle and stumble and die. It doesn't happen all the time, just randomly. It seems to be more endemic once the truck is up to operating temperatures.

I was told that it was programming because of the dual HPOP and dual IPR. I received some programming that seems to help. The problem is it didn't cure it. Was recommended to test the ICP to verify that isn't the root cause.

I unplugged the ICP today and drove the entire day. It did not die once. It did dip lower than normal a couple times at a stop, but did not die. When I unplugged the ICP it seemed that there was a little oil in the plug.

Question: So what do I do? How do I verify that the ICP is good or bad? Is oil in the ICP indicative of something? I want to verify the ICP is ok before I send the chip back for a few minor tweaks.

If you have oil in the electrical portion of the ICP sensor it needs to be replaced.

A 5/8 crow's foot w/ 8" extension will be your best friend replacing it if it's the original sensor.

Don't know if I will get to it before I leave town, but good to know. I will be sure and pick my spare ICP and my crow's feet.

To clarify - I am referring to the ICP on the driver side head with three prongs. Not the IPRs.

Appreciate your input on the ICP and such. Apparently my ICP is bad and is the root cause for my issues. But I guess you missed that; must be hard to read posts and only look for things that can possibly make your product look good. You only reaffirm why I didn't buy one of your pumps.

Am I thinking incorrectly or isn't the ICP right up on top of the driver side rail in front??? Wouldn't think a crows foot with extension would be needed...then again its 12:39am and im sitting in front of the heater pecking away on the computer

Yes, the ICP sensor is on the head, no real special tools needed, But If your refering to oil on the the IPR plug, it and the inside can get oily, if it's giving you problems it can be cleaned, and maybe work great again. It is definitely worth a try first. Never tried a crows foot, I guess it could work too. But a very deep well socket works best there, I made one out of a deep well 1/2" drive then welded a shorter 3/8" drive one onto the top, (SO the IPR can go into the 1/2" drive hole, most of them are too shallow) KOBALT did have a 1/2" drive deep well that was deep enough all alone, but the 1/2" drive ratchet is a little bulky in there. Take the small thin nut off, remove the cylindrical thingie (LOL) and then use the socket.

Not near the tools right now, but I THINK it was 1 1/8" someone correct me if I am wrong please!

:poke:Dual IPR's ,,,, tuning,, heck Dual pumps,, old school,,,,,:blah::blah::D
