I am thinking about sell my obs to get a superduty, i found a good deal on a 2000 model 4x4 crew cab short bed with 250,000 miles for 7300, BUT ive grown attached to my ole truck what should i do

i like SDs over OBSs too, but if you keep one and buy another one then youll have 2 trucks. 2 is always better than one

Honestly that is a question only YOU can answer and you need to do what you feel is best.

As far as my experiance goes. I loved my OBS trucks and had owned several and said I would never buy a SD. However I came across a real good deal I could not pass up on a 99 SD a couple years ago. So I bought it and shortly realized how much more I liked the SD and sold all my OBS trucks.

I have had several SD trucks since and have loved them all. If I came across a real nice OBS for a good price there is no doubt I would buy it. But my SD would remain my daily driver as they just seem to ride and drive a lot better and are more comfortable to me.

Good Luck with your decision...;)

Id keep your OBS, the only thing I would sell mine for is a 6.4 and well thats what Im picking up saturday. But if your just lookin at another 7.3 I would stick with the OBS, but I love OBS trucks so Im a little biased

Yea me too i love the obs body style but just things get old like the feeling of riding in a wheel barrel when going down the road lol

Yea two trucks are better than one but right now i cant afford the second truck until i finish college and i considered i could get attached to a newer model pretty easily

Im in the same boat as you, I would love to have both trucks but being in college thats just not in the cards. Honestly you just gotta go with what you think will make you happy. My biggest thing is just wanting a newer more reliable truck

Thats the thing im torn idk if i will regret selling my obs i can find sd a dime a dozen but its getting hard to find a nice looking obs

#12 ·
Are you talking about my truck too? Its for sale, Im already for sure picking up a 6.4 this saturday, money has been sent and I have the title

#14 ·
well if i sell mine it will be in the classified and it wont be overpriced like some of the obs i have sen

#17 ·
Id just keep the obs. Just my 2 cents

DON'T SELL IT!!! I sold my OBS it looked similar to yours but 2wd...I kick myself in the butt everyday.

if you havent had problems with your truck id lean towards keeping it. the SD has 250,000 miles, so if you buy it make sure it was well maintained and has some newer parts (front end, tranny, ect). i sold my obs about a month ago and i wish i still had it every time i see 1. my truck was about to need a good deal of money sunk into it so i got out before i was balls deep.

My dad has an OBS and I have a SD and I would hands down take the SD over the OBS. Many more creature comforts, better ride, more room in the cab. Being that you have a 250 you will be getting rid of the TTB front axle. I would not hesitate for one second trading up from a OBS to a SD. Just my opinion.

i think im going to sell it, what would be a good price for it

well if it helps i can tell u that i got close to 6 grand for my truck that i sold about a month ago in CT. it was a 97 f-350 w/ 140,000 miles, reg cab, XLT, 4x4, decent tool box, rear tank leak, broken rear shackle, needed new tires soon, tons of scratches, some rust (nothin bad), oil pan leak, smoked white at start-up (glow plugs i think) original tranny w/ some rough shifts especially the 3-4 shift, lots of steering wheel play (i think it was the steering column), and 1 of the ball joins sucked. your truck in ct would definitely bring a nice amount. i think i did pretty good with all the issues i had

i want to sell mine for 7000 obo if anyone is ineterested pm me

#30 ·
i would say list it for 8500 obo. that gives u room to work, cuz u know no one pays what stuff is listed for. if u have no big leaks and your tranny shifts ok then i would say ur truck sells for 8 grand or real close to it where i live.

#31 ·
yea my truck doesnt have any big leaks just an occasional drip of oil and the tranny shifts fine its been rebuilt so you think i should try to get about 8 for it

#33 ·
I am looking at late 1999 ex cab short bed xlt 6 speed with 246k anything i should look at with a truck with this many miles

#34 ·
Just your basics. Oil leaks and :blah:
And drive it to feel the clutch and the tranny shifts since its a 6spd

#35 ·
yea thats what i figured i didnt know if i should check ball joints, u joints, and :blah:
