How much sound deadener do I need to buy? I want to cover the floor, doors, back wall, firewall, sides, and roof.

I figured about 85 square feet for a ext cab OBS, not doing the firewall.
Falling in love with the truck all over again - Powerstroke Nation
So, I'm guessing 130 -150 square feet for a CC SD w/ firewall.

The little bit of hushmat I used I didn't like working with as much as the Damplifier Pro.
The hushmat got really soft in the sunlight and didn't hold it's form well when sliding it into a tight space, this apparently was because the aluminum is thinner than the aluminum in the damplifier pro.

The SD trucks can use the firewall sound damper/foam/fabric from the Excursion.

You ned to decide what you're gonna do and pick the right product.
You say you're looking for sound deadener then post you're looking at asphalt based products...those would be vibration dampeners...not sound.
There are different products for each issue.

I personally used 250 sq/ft of Dynamat Extreme.....I wanted a vibration dampener.

If I ever do another layer it will be a sound deadener and obviously a different product.

Well, yeah, I did misword that... Didn't realize it until I started doing some research. I've got a lot to learn on this subject, so I may ask dumb questions.

I'm gonna start with a vibration damper, may do some kind of sound deadener too. I just need to learn a little about this stuff first.

if you really want to learn, go check out diymobileaudio.com The site is owned by Anthony, who is the owner of Second Skin, also Rick from RAAMaudio is on there a lot as well, Ive delt with him personally and he is a good guy. Lots of good info to be found there.

I have three rolls of RAAMmat to start off my Bronco once I have the time

x2 great site.

I am trying to remember exactly how much we used to do my friends Quad Cab, if I remember right it was around 100sf for the floor, back wall, and roof. We did in, around and over that rear hump wall they have in the trucks so that took more than it would for a flat floor like in our trucks, but the SD trucks are much bigger inside so I would shoot for about 120+ or so to get the same coverage, and then depending on how many layers you want probably something around 10-15 for the front doors and maybe 10 for the rear doors.

Here is what we did on his truck:

Rest of the story, CAMSHAFT's Cummin's Ram Build Thread - DIY Mobile Audio

Used Dynamat xtreme and various thicknesses of dynaliner from 1/8" 1/4" and 1/2" Made a huge difference on noise and I only got to ride in it before the doors were finished.

I would go with Second Skin products or Raam Audio.

That's a nice install he has going...reminds me of how my doors look after all that Dynamat. LOL
Those are the only other Dynasorb pads I've ever seen other than the 2 sets behind the mids in my truck. LOL

OK, so after some reading I think I know what I need to do.

First would be a vibration dampener, Raammat or similar product- cover all resonant prone surfaces such as door skins, floor and roof.

Next layer would be a closed cell foam, like Ensolite or Luxury Liner Pro- Cover everything thouroughly. The Luxury Liner has a built in heavy vinyl noise barrier, so I think it would be the better choice, right?
