Are you talking about the front or the rear drive shaft? I believe when you hit 8 inches you have to lengthen the front shaft.

 

i have 8 inches on my truck and 38's and my driveline is stock front and rear, what size tire do you want to run???? i think 10 inches and 40's are the limit, we lifted my buddies truck 14.5 and 42" rockers and we had to put a 2 inch spacer between the t-case flange and the driveline, rear is completly stock, just a carrier bearing spacer

 

Explain in detail how tire size would make you need a different length driveshaft
