Help with Early 99 Problems Please?

My neighbor (who does not use computers) has an early 99 F-250 with about 250,000 miles on it. He is a great guy I I hope we can help him out, so heres the story:

He says he got some bad fuel and a skip developed. He took it to the Ford dealer (who is very good on 7.3s) and a buzz test revealed he had a bad injector. He got the proper code injector from a wrecked vehicle his son in law had and replaced it. He also replaced the fuel pump, pickup tube, and rebuilt the fuel drain on the fuel filter. Since then the truck will crank and run, but until it warms up it sounds like air is in the system and has a lack of power.

Once the truck warms up it runs OK. In other words, it appears to be an overnight leak down. I suggested he run another buzz test to make sure the injector fixed the initial problem.

Are there any other things we should check out?

Thanks guys.

How much has the truck been run since he has done all the work? There could be air in the fuel system that hasn't worked it's way out if not many miles have been put on it. It sounds like it could be more of a problem than that though.

He has run through 3-4 tanks of fuel since he did the work. There doesn't appear to be any fuel in the water, so we don't think an O-ring was torn during the installation. And the problem seems to appear after the truck sits overnight and go away after driving up to a warm temp.

Where could air be getting in to the system overnight? Is there a possibility of leak down / check valve somewhere that needs to be checked?

Thanks again.
