Welcome to PSN! First things first... you will need data to make good decisions. Some I have posted many a time: "I would recommend that you first invest in FORScan (forscan.org) and a suitable adapter. I have an OBDLink EX usb adapter (should you wish to use a computer to collect data), or take a look at either a BAFX or OBDLink unit. Both BAFX/OBDLink have a bluetooth/Wifi units (there are a few folks around here that recommend them) that will would work with a smart phone (Run of the mill box store scanners and even a great number of the higher end scanners can't touch these trucks as Ford used the "heavy duty diesel" protocol for communication). Once you are setup I would capture data.. At minimum I would save RPM (really this is CPS), ICP, IPR, MAP, EOT and IVS (at least I think that is the PID for the go petal). FORScan will allow you to save the data as a .csv file which you can import into excel. The information you get from the truck will help identify what your problem really is without just "throwing parts" at the truck."

The 7.3 PCM doesn't track coolant temps, there is no sensor for it - just a simple one wire sensor used for the dash board. If you try reading coolant temp from the PCM you will get random numbers. As or the EBPV - you just need the coil portion of the solenoid (just remove the coil from the rest of the valve) plugged in and you won't get codes. Not sure on the glow plug codes... I don't see a listing for P1636 in the info I have for the engine/PCM.

Welcome to PSN!

First - STOP!

Don't start changing / "improving" things until you thoroughly assess the vehicle! (FORscan)

Look at, research, and prioritize all those codes! Prioritize by Safety, Operational, and Nice-to-have.

Then fix them one at a time.

Inspect, or have inspected, the entire chassis / suspension / steering. 4WD tend to be abused and you need to ascertain the condition.

Unless you have paperwork on the maintenance - change all filters and fluids, including differentials.

Enjoy!

I'm in what appears to be the exact same situation I'm trying to figure out. I have all three of these, which should only be on a California truck, however mine is from Virginia, only ever lived in Virginia and has a GPR, instead of a GPCM. My only thought is that the PCM was replaced with a Cali one and so it's looking for the GPCM that doesn't exist on the truck. Were you able to figure anything out with yours?
