What is your EGT's at idle? I have been seeing higher than normal today and it has me concerned. No codes or anything, but I am seeing 450-500 at idle, when I normally see 350-400 at idle. Nothing different done to the truck, I am just seeing higher than normal idel temps. Even when I let the truck sit for a few minutes it won't really drop any. Input would be greatly appreciated!

Guess I should add this was with both the Spartan 210 Tow Performance and the 250 tune. Both are EGR delete tunes.

on the bigger tunes my egts are a little higher than smaller ones, but the temps you are seeing is about what my truck is IN gear not in park in park i see 300 usually maybe.

Check VGT, but i bet you would have thrown a code for that, also check %engine load at idle, i dont know what mine is but i will check after a bit for you. I wonder if maybe you have a bad EGT sensor? My EGRTA sensor is going on on me...

I talked to Mick about it and he acted like I was crazy when I said my normal temps were below 400 lol. He said if your EGT sensor is going bad then you will see the reading all over the place while driving and when in park it will sit on 140 degrees. I will check the duty cycle and engine load % and let you know.

I was getting the P2263 code with the 250 tune, but I figured that to be tune related since I only get it wih that tune. Mick and I also talked about that and he said he was sure it was tune related as well because someone else had called in about it on that tune. Once I switched back to the 210 Tow, the code hasn't come back up.

well.... one thing i was hoping was for a drop in temps at an idle when i switched to this turbo, and that never happened... im almost positive my temps were 300-350 at an idle, I know even on a super cold morning after idling for a min or two the temps are 300, but never 500 in park.

I have usually see 350 at idle even in 80-90 degree weather. Its 40 degrees outside here right now. It was 46-49 degrees out today and it was ideling 450-500 at times. Something ain't right. Just started doing it today which is what is weird. I didn't notice it yesterday. And I always let my EGT's drop below 400 before I shut my truck off.

Ok, so I went outside and cranked my truck up. It immediately was already at 350 degrees. Ideling at 5000-5100 FRP normal idle, VGT duty cycle was at 89%. I bumped the throttle up to like 1500 RPM and the duty cycle dropped down to 50%, and then settled off at 85% at idle again. So it was between 85-89% at idle.

Mine at idle will get around 280. When my egt sensor went out about a month ago or so I really had no indication that it was fixing to go out. I went ride down the road not paying any attention to them, but when I got back home not even 10 min later to let them cool down it was stuck at 140 and they were working fine when I left.

I had a bad sensor and my readings were all over the place like urs. i replaced the pre turbo sensor, which was the trouble code that came up and i idle at 262 constantly now. wat a difference one sensor can do

could the veins be sticking possibly causing it to stay hotter?

I'm running the regular 210 tune and mine idles around 300 degrees.

With the way Jeff drives, the vanes probably aint sticking. It is getting warmer here in Ga, so take that into account and did you have the A/C on?

I've always got the A/C on lol, and it's never done this before even in warm/hot weather. I did notice today that when I turn the key over, it jumps straight up to like 550 before I even crank the truck. That's even after the truck has sat 30+ minutes. It's got to be a bad sensor. No codes though....

you never know though they could be.

Ok, this is getting weird.....

I loaded up the 125 EGR delete tune. Went for a drive and immediately notice that my VGT duty cycle wasn't dropping way down like with the 210 Tow Performance. The 210 TP would drop all the way down to 7.XXX while I was in the throttle. The 125 tune only drops down into the mid 30's and easily comes back up in to the 60's while at light throttle. Idle duty cycle % is still around 75-80%. I had the hood up at idle to see if there was any noticeable differences in the sound or anything strange. Nothing looks or sounds any different. EGT's with the 125 tune dropped down to 375 at idle in park.....I have not idea what to think now. 210 TP and 250 tune both have issues with high EGT's at idle.....I will do some more monitoring and go from there I guess.

I am going to the dealer tomorrow to get some squeaking noises in the steering wheel/collum taken care of and my 4wd looked at. It will only work when the hubs are manually locked, so I am thinking it could be a vacuum line leak or something along those lines. While I am there I am going to get the diesel tech to hook up his laptop to the truck and see what is not normal.

I'll post up the results.....
