:psn:Let me say before I start that I love my truck and I am not bashing our trucks. All my life I have been a Chevrolet man but this past year I bought an 08 F250. These trucks are the best looking on the road and the ride is amazing. They pull exceptionally well. They only problem I have is the $2000 to $5000 worth of aftermarket upgrades you have to do to these trucks to make them more dependable. They cost enough as is and then you have to spend the extra money to make them more reliable. Dont get me wrong you have to do the same thing with the Cummins and Duramax. I will quit my whining and get the what I need to know. I am approaching 115000 and it has been recommended to me to do the egr delete because the coolers are prone to fail. Right now I wont be able the entire delete with wastegate, just the delete. My question is, should I worry about doing this without wastegaste or will it be alright. I am just running the SCT tunes(no custom tunes), and will be towing a 24 ft enclosed race trailer. Also I would appreciate your recommendations on which manufacturer should I get the delete from.

The egr coolers have been known to fail and take just about everything out with them. However you have to be careful with just blockoff plates. From what i understand, you can just do the blockoff plates but you have to keep a close eye on your exhaust backpressure. The egr coolers act like wastegate and bleed some of the pressure off. There are alot of people who run just plates without any problems, and im sure they will shed some light on this too. I dont have any experience with any particular brand so i cant really help there

I just installed an Elite Diesel EGR delete kit without a wastegate and see no adverse affects from it yet.

Not a very easy task with the cab on! But doable... Removing the coolers physically and the brackets were a PITA.

To be honest I haven't had enough time in it to get MPG numbers. But I wasn't expecting any benefits other than being more reliable.

you will not see an difference, performance wise. the temps and pressures stay about the same but you wont have all that sut caking in through your coolers, EGR and intake manifold.
im sure all the people that have had their intake manifold off can say how much of a PAIN it is too clean, even through a parts washer. the EGR delete on its own cost about 300 or so, if im not mistaken. some of the vendors on here give pretty good package deals and the majority of the work can be done in your driveway with simple tools (aside from the headstuds).

i do recommend studs and at least EGR delete. small price to pay now for something that can happen worse later

What is the differance with the EGR delete and the EGR delete with the wastegate? What does that wastegate do for the truck, I got the River City Diesel EGR delete kit for my truck a few weeks ago.

You posted in the 6.4 section. That is a 6.0 engine. If the EGR cooler is stock it will look like a radiator on the side that connects to the up pipe. Take it out a bit further and you'll see. If it has solid tubes welded, its a BDP cooler. i'd guess its stock.
