Ebp sensor tube keeps plugging up.

As said above, in the past week I have had the ebp sensor tube plug up 4 times. Replaced the tube Saturday and yesterday on my way up north it clogged up again. Anyone else had this happen?

With your mods, does your truck smoke much? Just wondering as I'm in the same camp as ghohouston. Cheers!

At times it will smoke alittle too much, it's always been picky about when it smokes. Some days it's a lot and others its hardly any. I've been running my heavy tow tune all week and pulling 12-15k everyday. The only way I know it plugs up is when I lose power and shifts like ####. Clean it out and it's fine till it plugs again. The ebpv is long gone too. I've never used my heavy tow tune this much before either.

Now that's an idea! Whose done it with bigger injectors and different turbo? I'd like to know if it worked out for them before I do it. I'll be all over michigan for the next 2 weeks and would hate to do that mod and have a problem away from home

Exactly what does the ebp sensor do besides control the ebpv? If I don't necessarily need it I'll just tap it into the map sensor line so that it's there.

On an obs truck, you absolutely do need it. It controls fueling, shift points, etc, and has nothing to do with the operation of the ebpv. That's why the trucks have an ebps and the ebpv solenoid, two different systems.

Actually, it does. The EBPS senses high backpressure if the EBPV is stuck closed and defuels the engine as a response.

You do have to leave the switch hooked up, either to the tube, sensing MAP or just swinging in the breeze. I've done it all three ways.

Which way worked best? As in did you notice a difference in power or shifts and etc...

If you're running a chip, contact the tuner and ask if the sensor was turned off.

With my mods I have to have a chip. I had a local diesel guy (mike Hallas) tune my chip a year ago. He passed away this past fall so whatever he did is unknown now.

Well I'm going to tap into the map line then, thanks guys

Delete the EBPV all together and your problem is gone. I'm glad I got rid of it on my truck.:psn:

I have eliminated the tube off the manifold and the sensor is just hanging. My tunes have the sensor turned off but it will set a soft code with it unplugged so I keep it plugged in.

Since I have an E99 spyder, I was going to thread the EBP sensor into one of the thread ports and extend the harness.

I think your tunes only turn off the ebpv system. The sensor is needed for shift strategy and fueling. That's what I've read so far.

That's been gone for years, it's the sensor tube that's giving me issues. Can't delete the sensor.

Well I learned something lol. For now I'm gonna tap it into the Map line and in the future after I install my bts, valve springs and push rods I'll get my chip reburnt to eliminate the sensor. Who's close to michigan that offers live tuning?

On Red sig truck have ran the MAP sensor line from hot side of IC, just aft of turbo across front of engine, "T'ed" into the Map line then into an adjusted air regulator set at 22 psi then into Map sensor. I just capped off the EBP tube where sensor screws in using a small length of tube and brass cap. Engine seems to run no different, mind you it's a ZF. Also have the EBPV gutted along with the butterfly too.

Sort of like the last 2 posts combined, plus a few more factors...

EBPS, EBPV, EVPR and IAT are all tied into the EBP system. So if the IAT senses less than 40*F, it trips an EBP system cycle. When in that cycle, the EBPS sense back pressure , adjusts the injectors against that cylcles fuel tables and sense excessive back pressure. The EBPR pulls the EBPV closed except when under a high load or high rpm.

I don't have an EBPV or EBPR, have an EBPR delete fooler plug, but kept the EBPS and I keep the tube clean.

Yes, usually tens of thousands of miles between cleanings... Unless maybe you are running too rich and clogging it with suet? Maybe a tuner contact for adjustment of your tunes?

I believe the EOT has also an affect on the EBP system. I was on the highway with the cruise set at 70 mph for 2.5 hours, so the motor was at operating temp. The ambient temp was around 35*. As soon as I got off the highway, the EBPV activated (opening and closing). I put the truck in neutral, while coasting shut the motor off, restarted and EBP system went back to normal. It was wasn't the first this happened to me. Needless to say, the EBPV was eliminated.

Good info guys, my stock white/silver sig truck acts really weird, have the rad basically fully blocked save for 3" along one side. EBPV will trigger on only off idle and stay on until I touch the brake. Stays on at highway speed until engine reaches the "N" on the gauge. Perhaps my thermostat is stuck open..... Engine gets warm enough (with EBPV on) that the fan starts to pull big air....So fan is roaring away and EBPV is hissing.... Guys I'd better check the tube and thermostat....

The OBS's PCM does not use the coolant sensor for anything. The coolant sensor is just for the idiot gauge on the dash.
