How many have done the delete but left the stock muffler.Just wondering how it sounds over an aftermarket system like afe.I know the most common set up is the straight pipe but I dont want the hair dryer sound.

I run a dynomax race bullet, gives it a nice low tone. Still got a little hair dryer sound, I think you need a 5" exhaust to get rid of that.

Here's some vids of mine, first is with not cat/dpf and factory muffler and tailpipe. Second is with 4" MBRP filter back no muffler. All I got out of mine with the factory muffler in place was the hair dryer sound, which doesn't really bother me, but had no V8 tone at all. After MBRP I have some V8 tone now especially when going down the road and I think the hairdryer sound is less noticeable which I know alot of folks don't like. Its harder to hear the V8 tone at idle in the second vid but I can hear it going down the road. To bad can't sound like a 6.0 lol. Sorry for the crappy vids, 1st is really bad, thought might help though.

I was wondering how a filter back mbrp would sound with a dpf cat delete, sounds a lot better than my stock exhaust minus the deletes, i wonder how a full mbrp would sound? with and without a muffler.

There is a guy on you tube with a magnaflow exhaust with a muffler and it sounds great, cant remember if its filter back or not

Quick question.. I still have stock exhaust but dpf/doc delete.. Not really wanting to buy the whole assembly, but am looking at mbrp filter back straight pipe.. Would 5" over 4" make any differences as far as temps or sound being that it is only 4" or 5" from the filter delete back?

I was thinking the same thing, but after seeing the price difference in filter back from 4" to 5'', im going to go with 4" and save a 100+

I believe when I put the 4" downpipe on my truck it made a slightly throatier sound. Also I would get rid of the cat and just put a whole new exhaust on the truck. I had mine straight piped and liked the sound of it with the downpipe, but I didn't like the drone on the highway so I put a hi-flow muffler from a big rig on there so I didn't loose performance just the drone.

Jeff (08stroker250) had just done the same thing in a 5" set up and it sounded way different. Really cool too.

Sounds good to me, i think ill just go with the 4'' down pipe and a 5" exhaust back, ill try with and without a muffler, i dont mind the hair dryer sound, i just want that v8 to come out a bit more without having to romp the throttle

I have been running the stock muffler on back to the stock tips for a year now with DPF/CAT delete. Most love the sound of the Kentucky hairdryer. It is barley noticeable in the cab unless the passenger window is down. It is much louder overall than stock. I am ready to delete the factory muffler though in hopes it frees things up a bit.......
