Do I need to upgrade to e fuel?

Hey guys I'm in the process of going through my engine, I've removed the fuel bowl, hpop, mechanical pump turbo and pedestal because it was running poor and leaking bad so figured I would go through it. I sent the hpop to Joey for the t500 and have been cleaning the valley in the mean time. My question is if while I have all of this out should I upgrade to an electronic fuel kit? I have rosewood 238/100 injectors and plan on putting in a kc38r turbo when the funds allow. The main problem with the conversion is the cost, the prices I've seen are 1k and up, I know they'res diy but they seem fairly complicated but I haven't looked into them deeply. So let me know what you think and if it's a necessity I guess I'll have to wait, but I'd like to find a cheap kit or maybe build one. Thanks guys

yes do the E fuel
The mechanical pump is problematic and it sends the fuel to the injectors in a pulse, not a smooth pressure but pulsing. This is part of the reason the OBS trucks are so loud and don't have the smoothest idle...the fuel is pulsing to the injectors. The CA trucks were fitted with a pulse dampener to smooth out the flow behind the mechanical pump. Ford fixed quite a few things in 99 when they built the first superduty... the shackle was moved to the back of the front spring so it would handle properly, the 17 degree swash plate on the Hpop to flow more oil and E fuel was added because the mechanical fuel just plain sucked......E fuel is a huge upgrade for these 7.3's with your mods the mechanical pump may not be able to keep up with fuel demand and the pulsing will cost you power and efficiency... at least that's what these guys have been telling me! I went with a mechanical pump for now...until I can afford the E fuel but my 7.3 would benefit "bigly" from the E fuel upgrade as well.

I am intrigued by this guys setup and I have been in touch with him, less expensive option easier to plumb on OBS

The markfuga kit is pretty nice. It takes all the guess work out of the top of the engine plumbing and pressure regulator. All you need to do is make a bracket to hang a pump and filters and hook it up. I had fun building my e fuel system. I would highly recommend just doing it yourself. There are many how tos and write ups on the internet.

I have the Fuga kit and it's flawless in operation. I do have a small leak at the filter from a compression fitting but that was my fault.

You can but you would still need a regulated return. And plumbing for the valley for the fuel feed. And you would probably need to add a final filter as the filer in the 6.0l pump body is a course filter.
