When it stops flowing coolant.

I have yet to change my filter and it has been on there about a year now.

 

Same here... I change mine when my coolant gauge stops reading.

 

Huh? What CSI,,, do you have a guage that shows coolant flow through the filter? Or Coolant temperature after the filter?
I didn't think you had room for any more gauges........ LOL

 

Check it periodically by holding your hand on the filter. When it gets plugged up and no longer flows coolant, it will not be hot. My first filter plugged up in about a month, the second took about three months and my current filter has been there for several years now. I use an IR thermometer these days to check filter temp and compare it to water pump temp. Since they are pretty close, I know it is still flowing coolant. Since this is a bypass filter, there is no harm done when it plugs up and stops flowing.

Something to consider.

 

When it plugs up, 50,000 miles, 1,000 hours, or 1 year. There are also some long life filters available. They are rated for 150,000 miles. I don't know what the time interval is for the long life ones.

 

I change mine once a year , or if it is not hot.

 

where are you conecting for the coolant filter supply and outlet?

 

Connect just below the T-stat on the water pump housing...

tie it back in at the return line to the degas bottle...

10K to 15K miles... I change mine once a yr... {Every January}... I use Wix @ $10ea...Change it and forget it...

Since your installing it... I would check your flow around the 3K to 5K mile mark... Just to be safe... It might and might not plug up...Who can say...

Then after that U might be able to go 10K to 20K...maybe more before change. I would not go more then 2yrs... JMHO.

My 1st plugged in about a month and the second in about 3. This one is still flowing. I am going to keep watching the flow to tell me when to change the filter.

 

i have abuddy that put one on his was close to that.

first one was done fast.., next was a couple of months the third was a year and going.

 

My filter has been on a couple of years - flows fine, but concerned about the paper turning to mush...it's a baldwin and the coolant it Evans....hmmmm
