Exhaust Pressure Control Valve Malfunction

What would cause that code to show up every time I start the truck

If it is unplugged, gutted, malfunctioning, or gone all together you will get that code. Mine is gone as I have the h2e and I get that code all the time.

Brad, is this on the 97? I'm not sure if this is a 97 thing only or not (probably not)

Here's some info from the "1997 MY OBD System Operation Summary for 7.3L Diesel Engine":

Exhaust Pressure Regulator (EPR) Valve Check Operation:
DTCs: P0475 – Exhaust press control valve malfunction
Monitor execution: Continuous
Monitor Sequence: None
Sensors OK: Not applicable
Typical Monitoring Duration: Internal to Chip
Exhaust Pressure Regulator (EPR) Valve Check Entry Conditions: No entry conditions
Exhaust Pressure Regulator (EPR) Valve Check Malfunction thresholds: Actuator driver status indicates open/short
Here is probably a better summary: "Exhaust Back Pressure (EPR) Regulator"

Hope that helps. Cheers!

Brad if it is a Cali model truck it will throw that code when unplugged but not on the federal trucks.
