Scan it and see what the code is.

 

The only codes popping up are 2 EGR codes.

 

Had any ECM swaps?

 

If you delete your EGR and don't have a program (SCT) to compensate, you're going to get the check engine light.

 

No ECM swaps.

That's like asking if the chicken or the egg came first. LOL

Personally, I like Doug's tunes.

 

Light shouldn't have come on with an 03-04. Oh well, custom tune time. I run a Gearheads tunes on mine right now. You can't go wrong with any of the tuners on here though.

The last couple of EGR deletes I've done on 03 and 04 model years have turned the CEL on for EGR. In both cases the owners had taken there trucks to the dealer and gotten the lastest and greatest updates....very interesting...may be worth looking into.

 

For the most part 03/04 wont get the light and 05+ will. I've seen the opposite in both cases in a few instances though. This is just another one of them.

 

My 06 i left the EGR valve pluged in and just bolted it to the side of the intake elbow.

That usually doesn't matter, as it will still sense there is no flow going over it. Did you try unplugging it all together?

 

That's exactly what I meant.....The new stradegies from Ford seem to make the CEL come on for the 03-04 model years when the EGR is deleted.

if you have cali emmisions truck your light will come on. so you need to take it to the dealer and have them reflash it for federal emmisions

 

My '05 had it, EGR was still there and plugged in but the computer knew it wasn't getting any flow and threw a light. A flash from PHP solved the problem.

I am going with the SRL tune from Matt @ gearheads. I would give him the money rather than give it to the stealership.

 

custom tunning works great, what they do is make the sensors inactive, then you have no more light

 

The light should not be on in an 03/04 truck..

 

With the newer strategies they do.
