Yes there is. Been there on spring break, was a blast. Quit a few years ago though....

 

Yep, You can drive out on the island hang a left and drive through all the tourist stuff, Hit a beach entrance and make another left and drive for like 20 miles up the beach!!

There was a bridge there in the spring of 2000 when I made the 19 hour drive from MO to TX. I can't remember much about it though. I was worn out by the time we finally got there, making the drive straight through with me behind the wheel the whole time. That wasn't really smart of me to drive that long straight through, but I was young and dumb. Now I'm older and dumb. :doh:

 

Take 37 to Padre Island Drive/ NAS south exit and stay on it I think it's labled 358 but it goes all the way on the Island to Malaki (SP) beach. It also connects with the Port Aranssas exit on the island...any questions PM me or Aljay..were glad to help PS brothers...Need a phone number ask and we'll send it. And it's three lanes each way most of the way.

Well if you go down the beach you can drive a ways down been yrs. think you can go like almost 50 miles to the land cut.
