broken glow plug... help please

Hi guys, I've been trying to search this problem, but not finding the same problem that I have. I was removing the glow plug and it snapped, leaving all the threads in the hole, then tried using an easy out, it seemed to start moving but then snapped that, now I have both stuck in the glow plug hole and no way to get them out. Is there any way to do this without removing the head? I really can't do the head removal myself, and can't afford to put that much into this truck.

thanks in advance for any help.

Try and get the easy out out...

Then soak it in BP blaster for a while, fill the whole cavity up with it...

Then try the easy out again.

:whs: If it doesn't work, run without it. What climate zone are you in? I have a buddy here in Wyo. that runs on 7 because he broke one off in #8 and he is fine.

put it back together and run it with 7 glowplugs...... anything you do from this point causes you to run the chance of either damaging the head or dropping something into the cylinder..... either way the head would have to come off and you said you can't handle that.....

there are PLENTY of diesels on the road with one or more bad glowplugs and the owners don't even know

This is what I would do if I was in yours shoes, but you really need to get the easy-out out of there because down the road it might vibrate out and tear something up!!

My .02 cents

I have 3 bad ones right now on my truck. In order to fix it right, the head needs to come off. Just remember it's there and if you ever pull the head, address it then.

I would wash off the top with some brake cleaner. Throw a dab of red Loktite on the top of it (keep that broken off easy out in it's place), and just run it.

not a bad idea.... don't sweat it tho..... if that piece of the ez out DOES fall out (I doubt it) it will almost surely fall harmlessly into the oil pan and stay there....
