Original turbo? Nah, I don't think so, anyway going much higher than that would probably break it.

Does he have a boost fooler? Afaik DP needs one to avoid defueling, not sure though.

In my experience they usually start making odd noises and stuff when they're on their last legs. It CAN be that the bearing is scratched and creating friction, you never know.

It's pretty easy to take off the intake tube and check it though. There should be NO in out play, there is some side to side and up down play because of the bearing having a slightly bigger bore then the shaft diameter, for the oil film, it's not a lot though.

It could be leaking up pipes or a boost leak somewhere too.

If its a stock turbo it isn't capable of more than 30psi.

It can obviously, I've hit 35 with my stocker on stock injectors.

Let me rephrase what I said, The stock turbo shouldn't be pushed past 30 if you want it to last, and isn't capable of much more than that.

Get a bigger one to clear up the fuel.

haha i put an h2e on mine truck and lifed my heads hahaha:ford::evil:doh: but love the sound of that turbo , its sick

Just remember that just because there is more boost
It may not be useful from what I have seen. At least over 35 or 36lb

Def cuts down the turbo life dramatically. 28 is way too much for a stocker.
Near the recomended li.it for a 38r as well.

The ww will cut down yor boost numbers some
but the lack of surge more then makes up for it especially when towing.

there is more to power then boost .

a stocker is no h2e the h2e is fine at 40lb but the drive pressure will be very high on a stocker. the drive pressure ratio on an h2e is close to 1:1.

someone like powerstrokeracer can explain it far better.
