get some stage 1 injectors.

If your planning on staying with the stock sticks I would rebuild your stock turbo and pout a 1.0a\r housing on it. Spools up much faster off the line.

If your planning on larger injectors (Stage 1 or 2) then go with beans D-66. Its a drop in turbo.

Any bigger on injectors than you will need a custom mount or hyper max mount kit and your choice of some nice turbos--but you will need some $$$$$

Ic and a 1.0 if your not gonna go any bigger than stage 1s! I ran my 2s2s with the stock turbo for aawhile spooled great no really problems ither than being wore out lol its all about plans for your truck. I did the t4 mount because I plan on making my truck a puller one day. So the custom mount was a better option! There aren't many ways to gain boost with out fuel!

I do a lot of towing with my truck (it's my work truck/personal truck) and I ordered the 1.0 turbine housing from Beans. I did this because I hear that it allows the turbo to boost in a lower RPM range, which I like for my towing situation. I don't like reving my truck to 3000 rpm when towing, thats just silly. So hopefully this turbine housing will lower the boost range down to somewhere that I normally use while towing.

But these guys are right, injectors=more fuel=faster/higher boost.

So you said you wanted fast spool up? Get the 1.0 turbine housing if you are NOT getting bigger injectors

More boost? Then get bigger injectors, reburn the TS chip (to match the new injectors) and stay with the stock turbine housing.

Here's the link for the housing I ordered. Should be delivered today actually.

so king7765 how are you liking that new turbo housing? my thing is i wanna get rid of the excessive black smoke yeah it looks cool but thats money going out the tail pipe and when i tow i dont really start boosting unless im at least at 2,000 rpms so what im trying to aim for is faster spool up i think the housing gives more boost? and better mileage i love the truck but im afraid to drive it cause my mileage is not so great its funny these turbo's dont boost just cruising down the highway however my 6.9 IDI would be making a constant 5 psi of boost going down the freeway and that truck would give me 22.5 mpg

In the obs trucks, its hard to beat Beans d66. It's affordable, a drop in replacement, and will support some respectable hp #s. If your gonna run big sticks with it, live tuning is almost a must, but Johnathan has a few trucks close to or over 500hp with it. I was gonna go with the d66 until I stumbled into a great deal on an h2e, otherwise I'd be running 1 myself.

I'm still waiting for the turbine housing and gutted EBPV housing to come back from getting Ceramic coated. Been 3 freakin weeks now! I hope they get it done soon, I'm getting bored waiting.

After its in... I'll chime back in with my thoughts.

I have a 1.0 a/r housing on my truck it dont so much spool faster off the line. U wont really get any boost with it till its under load mine likes to light best and pulls hard at about 2200 rpms and am at 7lbs, then it pulls from there and builds more boost. Its not gonna lag as bad with the 1.0 compared to stock and it lights a little better when towing at lower rpms. I wanna try some stage ones with the 1.0 i hear they light up even faster just gets hot quick. thats my plan.:evil

The single best thing I have done to my truck was injectors... That accompanied by custom tunes has completely transformed my OBS...

Doesn't matter what turbo you run, what HPOP you run, what intercooler you run, stock injectors will limit you.. Unless of course, your truck is a cali model, in that case, your a halfer in between and OBS and a SD but since yers is a 94, that isn't the case.

any real good mileage gain after putting in stage 1's? i hear if you run the chip on stock you'll get like a 2 mph increase?

#16 ·
Agreed I see 15-18 mpgs with my stage twos that's trying to take as easy as possible and on 35s

I dont really see any change in spool time eiter, unless there is a load behind it. At WOT I see about 20psi(stock injecotrs and stock tuning) then with the DP-Tuner I see 27psi at WOT. Now I installed Rosewoods Stage #1's and I see about 35psi(oops blew a boot) but with stock tuning its runs the same.

Wouldn't an intercooler slow down the spool time? just curious because there is a larger volume to fill with air. Unless the cooler denser air make more power which in turn spools te turbo quicker? Just curious. I have a 6.0L IC that I will be installing soon.

Leaving now to go pick mine up from the ceramic coater.... sooo happy.

headcase i've noticed that trucks that are intercooled are using a .84 or something like that turbo housing when we who are non intercooled the lowest we can really go is 1.0

The factory intercooled SDs and the OBS non intercooled trucks use completely different turbos, not just a smaller exhaust housing a/r.

Here they are, all shinny.

im looking forward to hearing your input king7765 on what you think im hoping you'll say your building boost faster and seeing less black and hopefully better mileage!

Black would be a function of better chip tuning. My truck doesn't smoke much while using the tow tune, stageII injectors, intercooler, and the 1.0 housing. Spool time is noticeably better than with the 1.15 housing. After I installed the injectors I got curious about reinstalling the 1.15 so I reinstalled it. The truck turned into a real dog. Went back to the 1.0. Also got 385 hp using the tow tune and 408 with the old 2003 race tune using the stock muffler and electric fuel.

5 speed, 35 inch tires, 3.55 gears, stock 1.15 exhaust housing, charge air cooler, Swamps 150cc and Swamps tuning.
truck tows great, spools fast, very little smoke in the tow settings and it spends 95% of it's time at 8000+ elevation.
