is anyone of you able to use the Auto Enginuity on a 6.0?

I am so sick of AE not doing what its supposed to do. It will hook to the truck and read codes but thats it, Wont run any tests, Wont show live data. WTF good is it? I also have it do this on 7.3s but not that often.

I tried different settings but never could get it to do anything, I drove 60 miles round trip to check this truck out for my salvage yard guy and no go, Felt like a retard in front of him. I tried to call AEs tech line many many times and left messages and still have not heard back from them. WTF? This seems to be the norm anymore. :poke: Seems to me they could have made the thing connect how its supposed to. I work on trucks, im not a computer wiz for gosh sakes. Guess Im gonna buy a NGS and throw the AE in the garbage.

OK I tried all that on my 6.0 and still there is nothing. It connects but no options under the graphs. AND AE Tech still dont answer the freakin phone.

Just a stupid question but are you using a slow laptop? I have had communication issues before if the computer is outdated and slow. I bought a new 2.4 Ghz laptop and haven't had the same issues with it.

You may also want to update your software if you haven't already tried that.

I used to use AE on an 800mhz IBM Thinkpad with no issues.

Just to make sure, you are selecting the correct vehicle year, make, model (in the case of the PSD it needs to be either "Powerstroke 7.3L" or "Powerstroke 6.0L"...NOT Super Duty or any other truck selection. You also need to make sure that the bottom box on the connect screen says "Enhanced Powertrain Control"...NOT "Generic".

Jay Finnaly called me this morning and all is good. He told me to let the AE Auto connect and not to mess with the other settings. I done what he told me and it worked fine on the 03 and my 06. I had 1 setting wrong so that was a screw up on my part:doh: Thanks for the help guys. :bowfast:

i'm getting AE and I saw they have a pocket PC version also...they say it runs on windows mobile 5/6...i got a new smartphone which runs on windows mobile 6 and thought that it would be too cool to have AE loaded onto it...sounded great and i'm ignorant as all f*%#, so i sent them an e-mail asking if all the enhanced features were available on the pocket PC version..the reply they sent was basically to not even consider the PPC version and stick to the PC/laptop versions...even though my smartphone runs on WM 6, it's not the full version of the OS which a dedicated PPC runs.. the PPC version is offered, but isn't what you might expect..they are working to make it better...

if you're gonna get AE, make sure you have the right hardware...AE has great customer support via e-mail and answered my questions quickly..once you do get it up and running you have the ability to read just about any data from any of the computers and modules on your truck..there's alot more than just the PCM and TCM..spending the extra money for the enhanced Ford version is a must also...

they're also throwing in their SpeedTracer now which is basically a performance computer similar to a g-tech..it measures/calculates 1/8 and 1/4 mile times/speeds, HP, TQ, etc based on info from internal accelerometers..

i haven't got AE yet, this is all from what i've gathered from e-mails back and forth, and their website..

Just to clarify...

I agree with the statements about the PPC/Palm versions...a regular PC version on a laptop will be MUCH more useful.

SpeedTracer does NOT work right on the diesels. It does NOT use accelerometers, it makes it calculations from OBDII data. The diesels don't have all of the necessary data to do the HP/TQ calcs correctly. I think it will be accurate for the 0-60 and 1/4mile times because that's just speed and time data, but the rest won't be right. Don't buy AE for your Ford Diesel because you think you'll be able to use it like a GTech for your own personal performance testing, you'll be disappointed.
