Any advantages or disadvantages of running a 20x9 rim?

I'm about to buy new wheels and I'm running a 20x10 rim right now that has a -12 offset and 5" b/s.I'm ok with that setup I guess but I kinda want the wheels to come in just alittle bit.My option's for the new wheel are 20x10 w/4.75 b/s and -19 offset or 20x9 w/5" b/s and "0" offset. The 20x9 seems close as far as b/s is concerned but I don't know if I would like a 9" rim.I'm running 305/55's right now and may in the future go to 35's.The truck is stock height and going to stay that way FWIW.

What do you think would look best?

9inch wheels look good with a 12.5 wide tire, look good with 35s as well, if you get the 20x10's they are going to stick out about 1/4 inch more than what you got now, if you go with the 20x9s they will but in about 1 inch more than now, maybe post up a pic of what yours looks like now, the wheels that i have now are 4.75 so i take it your looking at bmf wheels possibly? the 4.75 is a good offset for a lift, wont be extreme for a leveling kit or stock hight but might stick out a little far, i think eithe way will look good...

Haha good guess!I am looking at the BMF's(Novakane 8's).I don't have any pics that show how far mine stick out now,but I have 1" fender flares and the rear tire sidewall lines up with the angle of the flare and that is how I like it to look. The front tire sticks out about 1/2-3/4 of an inch past my fender flare. That is where I would like to pull the tire in alittle.I used an offset calculator online to try and find out the differences between what I have now and the new wheels. This is what it told me...

The new wheels compared to the old ones...
20x9 would pull in 12mm or 0.5" inches
20x10 would push out 7mm or 0.3"inches
It doesn't seem like there would be a difference with the 10" with only 0.3".

There are a couple guy's on here with these wheel and they all have the 20x10's and from the pics they don't seem to stick out at all. That is the look I'm going for.The one difference though is they have 02 superduty's so they have the leaf spring front end. Thanks for the help!

yea that's my thing too...Keeping the truck clean.Because I have the sport package my mirrors are painted black.Needless to say there isn't alot of paint left on them.It doesn't really matter though as I want to get some 08+ tow mirrors.

Doesnt make alot of sense to make a mechanic wear white, i know, but it is what it is LOL

with the factory ford flares that are on my truck it stays pretty clean for the most part, if you do get into any mud it will fling it like crazy but my truck stays pretty clean for the most part, my flares are comming off to get painted so im sure the next week or so the truck will be pretty dirty

Here are a couple shots so you can see how far they stick out.I'm kinda thinking because I don't really want to come out any farther I have to go with the 9" wheel with the "0" offset.I'm still not really sure what to do yet.I always thought it was better to have a 10" wheel but this time I might have to try a 9".I just want it to look good,I'm not a fan of the super tire bulge but I think it would look ok.I do like the wide stance trucks,I think they look really good. But with the 10" I think it will be to much with a 4.75 b/s for my stock height truck. The 9" would bring it in about a 1/2 inch so I don't think it would be a huge change but they'll come in a smidge. It will hopfully still have the wide stance look. Here are the pics...

I know these are not 20x9's but I got 18x9 with 5" backspacing and 325 nitto terra grapplers. I also got those little 3/4" fender trim pieces some call flares.

My truck becomes a mess quickly. Here you can see all the slush on the mirrors, and notice how the flares are covered (slush built up and extended the flares naturally) and along the rockers. Can just watch everything spit up both front and rear. This was after maybe a 30 minute drive around town...

This is the best I got to show how they stick out (its about an inch at the top of the tire, seems a little more in the front)

I want to step up to Pocket flares to keep it clean, but at the same time maybe to some 20x10's down the road too.
