Obdlink mx bluetooth adapter for around $80, then download either torque pro or forscan to your phone.
I use both. Torque pro to read and clear codes, and forscan to make changes
The ELM 327 adapter that I purchased cost only $30 and works fine. However it is no longer for sale so for a second one I'll have to do a little bit of research.
And the reason that I'm looking at a second one is that I have two Fords, my truck and a newer Explorer and want to have a adapter in each vehicle as a just in case....
Thanks for all the input guys. Ill check aound and try the bluetooth route again before spending on a costlier scanner . I was looking at this with the Ford bundle but looks like I would have to get a laptop as well. Really more money than I was hoping to spend if their were other reliable options.Hopefully I can get something and get this truck straightened out once and for all.
i do not do that with the phone.
for anything forscan, i use a wired adapter on the laptop.
i have never been able to get forscan to work off the phone.
I don't have the link with me but go to the ForScan forums page, it will give you information on what Bluetooth adapter works. I think that I only paid around $30 for mine.
