Advantages/Disadvantages of running a stack

I have been wondering if a single stack would be an advantage, or disadvantage...

I hate having to wash the back quarter panel every other day, but I wonder if a stack would cover the entire inside of the box, and tailgate, if left too long?
When pulling a trailer, the entire side of the trailer is covered from the side exhaust...with a stack, it would prolly cover the front, top, and both sides???

When racing, there's always a chance of smoking the lights with side exhaust...

How much louder would a stack be? I wouldn't put some stupid 8 foot stack on...it would prolly be just to the top of the cab, and use a 45 degree slash.

Anyone have any regrets on running a stack on their truck?

I ran a straight through exhaust for awhile with my '03 turbo....way to frickin' loud...had to put the muffler back in.
Now with a non-vgt, it sounds like a big block with the rumble. And it's still quiet...somewhat...until you floor it.
I just don't want the kids in the back seat to go deaf from the drown.

Your bed and tailgate will never be clean. Especially after you crank the truck and there is any kind of moisture in the stack or pipe it will blow black water all over the bed and cab. I feel like the stack will make more mess and more noise than what you have now. As you said the front and top of the trailer will be covered vs just one side. The inside of the bed and tailgate will be dirty vs just the back panel and bumper....

if you have a black truck it wont matter- if it wasnt black i probably wouldnt have one. single is the only way to go though...two is overkill and useless

not to mention if you have on light colored clothes and you lean up against it by accident and get black all over your clothes. Just slide your tip out a little further so its further away from the quarter panel...

I had a 7in aussie stack in mine.. Boy did I love the way she sounded. But at the high school football games when I talegate all the girls would B*tch because of all the soot getting on them or there clothes. Stacks look good but you can never keep anything in the bed clean. Just my 2cents

i only run a stack on my race truck now. i had one on my truck for about a year and my tailgate would be covered in soot constantly. i always had to warn people because they would turn there clothes black from leaning on my truck. alot of people tried to sit on my tailgate too lol bad idea. oh and the back window and roof got black too. having compounds helped alot for keeping it quiet but it still got annoying at about 70mph. kept me driving slow though lol.

If you run an areo or flow through tailgate then the bed does not get all smokey. Or drive with your tailgate down or off. Keeps all the smoke from swirling back inside the bed.

ive run a single and now i have duals. and ive had many different side exits.

not much louder IMO. i like the looks of them and they sound pretty good. only running the duals now for a change.

The 6" single in my regular cab truck is loud as hell at wide open throttle. I put a magnaflow muffler in it to help with some of the sound, it's quieter at an idle, but it didn't bring the noise down much at all when you're in the throttle. If I didn't have a 6" hole in my tonneau cover, I would've removed the stack by now in place for a regular 4" exhaust system.

I also recently put a 6" single stack on my truck. I really like the way it looks, and its nice for extended idling near the house with winter up here.

I don't like how loud it is, or how dirty it makes things (and my trucks black). I don't know how the cummings guys deal with the drone of a stack on those trucks!

I may have to try that turn down idea. My trailer gets a good bath in soot with the 6" duals...

IDK what the angle is on your side exit exhaust but I run a 6" tip behind the rear tire and its pointed toward the ground at about a 60* angle. I never have any issues with soot on my quarter panel unless I don't wash it for a month. Plus it sounds and looks great, plenty loud at wot and nice and quiet for DD.
