ac problem?

My ac doesn't work, so I tied to refill with 134a, but it showed the pressure was way to high on the gauge. Looked at the ac compressor, and the very end piece of the compressor wheel is missing. Looks like it screws in to the wheel. Sorry for not knowing the correct terminology, hopefully someone can help. I think I can just buy the wheel with the end on it, and transfer the end of the new compressor wheel on the end off the current wheel. Any suggestions? Or am I in left field lol

Can you post a pic of what you are referring to? Sounds like you may be talking about the clutch mechanism for compressor but I'm not sure. Has the a/c ever worked since you have had the truck? My experience in dealing with a/c parts is that if one part is broke, it's all broke so replace it all, but maybe you will get lucky.

^^^ What those guys said ^^^ It sound like the compressor never kicks in and you are trying to add R134 with one of those recharge can the has a gauge on it. If that compressor hub is missing the system may not have been low and you could have over charged it. I would recommend getting a real set of A/C gauges so you can see what is really going on with the high and low side pressures.

Id replace the clutch....... check the system with some real gauges as stated earlier..... and for heavens sake.... keep those a/c grenades away from your truck. Lol. You shouldn't have been able to charge that much with the compressor off...... still though..... be best to start from scratch with a vacume..... then recharge it with the factory spec amount of oil and coolant. Jmo though. Good luck with it.
