with the truck running, at full operating temperature...
unscrew the oil fill cap from the passenger side valve cover...if it has a steady haze (oily mist) then you're in not bad shape...
however...if there is a puff, puff, puff. (as if there is moderate pressure behind it)...then I'm afraid that you've probably lost a cylinder (rings, cylinder walls or cracked piston)...
any oil consumption (or "making" oil?)
when compression is gone in a cylinder...the fuel that the injector is injecting into that cylinder can increase the oil level in the crankcase.
