I'll take a stab at it and say yes (depending on how you plumb it ... no PVC fittings!). The Donadson filter used in the Tymar setup can flow a lot of air. JMO though. Cheers!

 

There's not much more you can do to flow more air except...NO filter.....and you know the answer to that.....NO

 

Take a deep breath through a 6637. Feels like there is no restriction at all, like you were breathing normal... I had to try it when I got mine LOL

I'm rather curious why its so much cheaper than the BHAF dodge guys use (napa 2790). Its half what the dodge filter is

 

Actually here is a more important question.

How close does the 6637 come to touching the hood/other surrounding objects?

Because the 2790 filter is 1/2" shorter, but 2" fatter, and according to fleetfilter flows 680cfm vs 400 for the 6637

Both have the same 4" outlet

 

I like the looks and sound of the 2790. But I will have to go out and look, to see if it will fit in the same spot as a 6637.

That is a good increase in flow over the 6637 680 vs 425. That is a good increase..

I don't think the other one will fit where the 6637 would go. Even if the hood closes, the larger diameter will probably be against something and restrict the flow (and negate any flow advantages). Cheers!

 

I might just have to replace my 6637 soon than....I'm wanting to run a custom intake like the ATS Great White truck anyway.

It will easily support 500 hp. This is my home built, click link in my signature to see a bit of how I built mine. If I had it to do over I would have bought the TYMAR - much cleaner install than mine and not that expensive.

i ran the 6637 from napa for about 5k mi. then i went to the 6637 cotton filter from afe. night and day difference. lower egts, better fuel mileage and i have checked the compressor wheel for dusting and got none. if you are constantly in a dusty enviroment then the paper filter is king. if not get a 6637 from afe. look it up. the end of it is a filter too. not just a rubber end.

 

Good to know. My Napa 6637 is due for replacing.

Is the AFE filter a dry one?

Just installed a Diamond Eye 4 inch strait exhaust and a Napa 6637 on my bone stock 2001,2wd,166k,auto,f-250. The boost gauge has gone from 16-17psi to21-22psi. Great sound with the 4inch exh. Will try to see if the mileage increases with the new airflow.

 

im using a baldwin version of the 6637 on my rig with the gtx4202r, seems to be doing ok so far.

 

A website called fleet filter claims the 6637 flows 425 cfm and the 2790 flows 680. I doubt this is true i believe they both flow much more

 

anyone know where I can find the AFE version of the 6637 filter?

 

Here's whats in the kit for our trucks, but after looking its not a 4" inlet filter. I'll try and find a similar sized filter later.
