New to the forum, and have to field this to you all.

Since before I hit my first 1000 miles, I’ve had a ticking sound coming from somewhere around the DEF injector area underneath. Dealers say it’s not DEF system related and since it doesn’t hurt the truck mechanically I have to live with it. Mother Ford has nothing on it and they’ve dubbed it a ‘typewriter condition’.

There’s no rhyme or reason to it, no consistency of the noise. Truck needs to be warm, operating temp, and the ticking starts. The volume of the tick fluctuates and sometimes it’s rpm related while others it’s simply a steady rhythmic tick. Injector made sense but Ford swears it’s not it. Has anyone experienced this??? It’s driving me nuts and I’m stumped.

I had my 2017 F350(6400 ml) 6.7 into the dealer for a few warranty repairs, a ticking sound like a slight exhaust leak while acceleration on the left side of the engine being one of them. After a road test and inspecting everything on the left side of the engine I was provided Ford's explanation why they claim it's normal mechanical sounds for this engine design. There is still no explanation why the noise was not present when I bought it and seemed to start shortly after the first oil change. According to the Service Mgr. Ford is doing nothing to identify the cause and develop a fix.
