I have a 06 450 and the radio stopped working . So I bought another thinking it was the radio but same damn thing . I only have the clock when you push the power\volume button . I checked the main fuse and the Start fuse I think #8 both are good . The start fuse only has voltage when cranking though . I'm thinking it should have voltage when key is on ? If anybody has any ideas on this I would really appreciate it ,
Thanks

These are the radio ones I assume you checked.
#11 20A
#32 5A

Are your windows working as well too?
I'd also check your delayed accessory while your down there.
#42 15A
And relay #601, try switching it with the one right above it to see if its malfunctioning.

Hey , thanks for the response . I have checked those fuses and swapped relays a they check good but i have no voltage on #32 or #42 . I made a jumper to #42 and it plays but no lights on the buttons only the display . This is my work truck and it just has manual windows but my map lights do not work also . The dome light works but no power to the maps . I didn't get to mess with it today I worked to almost 9:00 tonight . Thanks again for the suggestions .

Are there other "aftermarket electronics" on the truck lights etc..? Sounds to me like something may be back feeding in the line if the radio works with a jumper. I'd assume the 5 amp is for the lights on the radio. Good thing its only a work truck :ford:

Yeah its got strobes , aux lights in utility bed , inverter , boom controls , etc ,etc .... It has a ton of stuff on it . The jumper is just bypassing the relay I think . I tried one on the 5amp too but couldn't get the lights to work . It seems that the relay for the delayed acc is not getting power but I dont no what feeds it . I'm assuming the GEM .

Looks like you got all the fun stuff :D... Just look at the avatar...

I thought there was not a GEM in the newer models (04+? or something). I think everything runs through the cluster? I could be wrong but IIRC all of that good stuff is stored up there, thus the reason for so many clusters messing up. (or the "GEM" is incorporated in there)
If you have time, and your that worried about it.. Double check everything runs correctly. Check the grounds etc. The only time this happened to me I went through two batters :( and it took about four months to determine it was just my fog lights that were messing up and the only way we figured it out was because we drove 90 miles and smelled wire burning, sure enough the wires to the fog lights were too close to something hot and sent the entire electrical system hay wire.

But nothing else is turning on by itself, or malfunctioning huh?

As far as I know there are A LOT of things that feed it, so many that you have to get a wiring diagram from Ford (from someone that has some good access, not your average tech). My uncle is one of the big dogs in the innovation department in Detroit and it took about 3 weeks just to get some sort of an idea of what powers that relay and what goes in and out of it (before we discovered the problem). From what I learned, if something pre-relay is malfunctioning (and its not obvious what it is), you have to get the truck hooked up to a laptop and have someone run tests through it, which apparently less than +/- 5% of Ford delearships have.

Once more, if it really concerns you, and if you had the time, I would start unhooking your bad ass electrical toys one by one and see if anything solves it.

Just to give an update on this problem , it was the battery save module . It is located on the backside of the instrument cluster . If your battery gets low it shuts off the radio and windows ..etc . . to save battery . If you have this problem take loose the battery cables for a couple minutes and it should reset .
