I have a friend who is looking for a front end conversion kit for his excursion. I thought I remembered Diesel Power mag. putting one on an earlier super duty but I couldn't find anything on their website.

I was just wondering if anyone has any links or information about these things. Thanks in advance.

I did it also, and retained the factory front bumper at first(now im replacing it with an 05 painted due to a small pull spot in the original bumper:badidea:. I actually just cut the stock header panel to accept the 05 headlight, cut an 05 grille to make it fit with the stock 99 bumper. I had to zip tie the bottom in since it wasnt a direct fit, but you can't tell anyways now that its done. Looks very good.

diesel doy- what did you have to cut to fit the 05 grill? Is it just a little on the bottom?

Truck looks good.

Ya just trim the bottom with a dremel tool.....Put tape down so the chrome doesnt trip.....personally Id cut it alittle big then downmill the excess for a smoother cut.

This Thread really caught my eye. Trucks look really good with the conversion. I see that you have to trim the grille a bit if you keep the bumper. Do the 05 lights mount right in place or is there anything that needs adjustment for them?

Where is the best place (cheapest) to get a grille and lights???

If you are switching over, the BEST way is to buy the 05 header panel. I know a lot of guys were trimming theirs to fit, but I did a lot of searching before I did mine, and for the money, a new header panel is worth it for perfect fit and finish....Not to mention a hell of a lot less hassle.

You also need a headlight harness I got mine from www.gosperformance.com

After that, grille and bumper with the painted plastic fascias fill out the bill.

That's my 02 cents, oh and that I love having the new style!!!!!!!

no but the kits add a couple realys because the mewer style lights could burn up the old style wiring

What about if you have the headlights and the header panel? Do you have to do anything special or just plug it in. I know about the harness but I am more concerned about whether I have to do anything to make the grill fit or whether it just pops in. TIA

Everything bolts in perfectly if you have the 05 header. Even the bumper and brackets bolt right up. I was supprised nothing had to be modified. Like I said before you don't have to buy the headlamp wire kit just go to a salvage yard and get some sockets from any f-250 or f-150 and splice them in. I cross refrenced the 05 headlamp bulbs and found that they are actually used on several other veh's therefore the pigtails are also the same. I have an 05 grill for sale if you need one pm me.
