Need to do something about my trans soon,Bad syncro, noisy :blah:.
So what's your opinion on new versus rebuild and who has the best price /warranty on a rebuild?

If it's just a synchro I'd fix it, replacing the whole trans would deff cost more.

All the bearings, seals and syncros are about $400 + labor . A "rebuilt" trans is going to cost your 1600+

You do the math

I haven't done much looking around at other places (since I do my own work) but usually a rebuild comes with a 12/12 while a reman unit will have a longer warranty.

At least thats how the places local to me are versus places like jasper or other reman outfits.

I'd call a local shop and get a quote on the bearings and whatever synchros are grinding then compare to the reman units.
