My wife drives a Tahoe, which I can't wait to get rid of. Runs fine, just little things annoy me. Like when I hear my little girls hollar because the rear roof a/c vents fall on them.

Also had an 05 Chebbie Duramax that we used as a delivery truck. 115k the engine imploded, complete catastrophic failure. Required new long block. GM covered 50% of the bill, but still left us paying over $7k. At 165k the trans decided to let loose (the much touted allison). As it was dying, my driver pulled codes, got out to inspect and there was ATF everywhere. He opened the hood and *woof* air to hot tranny fluid purged all over the turbo. Truck burned for 45 minutes. Had two high dollar trailers attached at the time. I wasn't happy.

Hell I rode in a 95 today and thought the damn dash was going to fall on my feet. I just had this conversation about rattling and my buddy with an old chevy got all butt hurt because I told him my truck was pretty rattle free his chevy of the same decade is a fookin rattle trap. And to think I was a chevy guy .

I've got the 1999.5 SD now. Had a F150 I retired last year after 26 years of service. I had a Ranger that I ran for 14 years. Had LTD and Torino wagons and assorted other Fords. I have had my share of GM's, Buick (2), Olds (5), Caddies (1), Pontiacs (3), Chevy (2), plus several Dodge Durango's. Curently have a Suburban, Chrysler 300M, and Toyota in the stable with a Pontiac Firebird in storage. With the total accumulated vehicles I have owned and driven, I can honestly say there is really no difference in function and reliability as long as the vehicles are maintained on regular basis. I do have a preference for Ford Trucks and would have had an X instead of 'burban had it not been for the 2004 6.0h!

All that given, I would not buy a Chevy Truck just based upon the looks alone - one ugly truck, plus I am fond of a solid front axle.
