When I was looking into a LSD it was between the auburn and truetrac but I ended up getting a Detroit Locker and I don't have any regrets.

I just went through this with a guy on my Golf Cart forum. Ford uses a viscous style LSD. Chevy uses the Auburn (LD), it is a Locking Differential with clogs instead of relying on plates and fluid to engage like the Ford LSD. My brother in law got a Detroit Lock, Auburn doesn't make a rear end for the Ford's from what every one has told us. He loves the DL and that is my next install before winter and after my new tires.

The detroit truetrac has rave reviews. Helical gears instead of clutch plates and nothing to really wear out. 4wheel parts has all their drivetrain stuff on sale for 10% off with free shipping. It's a heckuva deal for the money.

I just witnessed a chevy with a locking diff. it made noises I freaked out then I thought about it and my buddy said it. That thing has a locking diff. Funny thing is the chevy owner thought something was wrong with the truck .LOL

Just to let everyone know Auburn does make a LSD for our trucks and it is a nice unit and doesn't use clutches it uses a cone type deal and will last alot longer than a clutch type LSD.

Where can it be bought? I was told by Auburn themselves they do NOT have one for the F series.

Stay away from 4wheelparts. I orderd a Trutrac from them last weekend and was told they would be instock by Tuesday and my unit would ship by Wednesday.
I called on wed. to get a tracking number only to be told that they don't have any to ship and they don't know when they will have them instock again. Since they had already billed my credit card I told them there was no way they were not going to give me a shipping date. The kid tells me to call Eaton myself to find out when they will be shipped. So I called and was told they won't ship until Sept 13th at the earliest.
I called 4wheelparts back and told them I want my money back!
Called Randys R&P and it will be here next week.
It cost about $130 more but I got bearings and races with it, and I will gladly pay a little extra for good service

Auburn has a limited slip part no. 542089 for the rear , there is none for the front (DANA 60) ,as of yet, Adam's driveshaft has them $525.

It took me this long to find a local place that can get the unit. They are pricing it out today and letting me know.

My Trutrac arrived today. UPS beat the hell out of it during shipping, both boxes are completely wrecked.

Also got a Dynatrac cover yesterday

I think your truck will be harder on the diff than UPS was.

I know that it won't be dropped again. I will post some pics tomorrow of what the boxes look like.
I'm going to call Randys tomorrow and see what they have to say. This isn't how I was expecting a $620 unit to arrive

What is the big deal ?!?!?!?!? BOTH boxes were smashed, one machined end of the Trutrac was sticking out of the hole in the box, the instructions are gone and I WON'T know if there was any real internal damage until it's installed.
I will be fine with a damaged box, I'm not fine with a damaged unit. Randys should have done a better job of boxing it up. They put one small box weighing about 40 lbs. inside another box twice it's size, then filled in around the small box with a few sheets of bubble wrap. Bubble wrap wont cushion 40 lbs. The Trutrac punched holes in every side of both boxes!!!!!
I wasn't expecting to see my new $620 Trutrac sticking out the side of the shipping box as it came off the UPS truck

I would send the thing back. If you took a picture of it coming off the UPS truck and it was damaged, you have a case. You would have been better off rejecting it though. If I paid $620 for something, I would want it PERFECT! Good Luck with everything.
