Does anyone know the purpose of this hose on the stock air intake snorkel? It just goes to the radiator support, with seemingly no purpose, not hooked up to anything but the intake.

6.0L Power Stroke Diesel - Small Hose on Air Cleaner - Anyone know the purpose of the small (3/4 or 1 ) hose on the intake (front) side of the factory air cleaner box? Just curious.

what's this air box hose thing?

My air box is missing the small hose that goes from the top front of the air box to where ever. What is this hose for and where does it go? I think it is called an air box hose with a part number of 9671 (from an illustration I've seen of the air box assembly). I don't want to purchase this...

Yep, it's just an auxiliary intake. I think that the large opening can get clogged in a heavy snow event, (Seriously, that's what I've been told) and the little hose is routed to where it can't get as clogged to keep you getting some air. They both feed the same face of the filter...


So, Cincinnati may have that issue. I don't have to worry about it where I'm at, unless I travel the Sierras in winter, and I tend not to do that when the weather is ugly. Can't say never, but snow and very steep grades are just not enjoyable in whiteout conditions.
